My mate Barney who is a member on this forum, came off his bike this morning. He was out on an early morning ride which involved stopping for breakfast. His wife said he was out with members from PSB but i'm not so sure.
If he was out with PSB riders I would like to thank Dave and Clive who sorted the ambulance and went to Royal Perth Hospital and stayed with him until his wife Anne turned up. My wife and I have just spent the last 10 hours at RPH waiting for the results of thr CT scan etc. His injuries are -

A fractured skull
Fractured cheek bone
Fractured rib
He is still bleeding from 1 ear, so they have to keep a close eye on him for the next 24 hours as they are not sure if there is any fluid off his spine coming out of his ear.

I have been in to see him and spoke to him, he knew who I was, knew what day it was and where he was so that is good news.

Anyway once again thanks to the lads who helped him in his hour of need.

Cheers
Andy

Serious stuff when head injuries occur. Like you said at least he is still conscious of his surroundings, a very good sign.
I hope your mate recovers well and gets back out there real soon.

Barney is a work colleague and I trust that he will show the same determination as he does at work and pull through this difficult time. He is also a fellow Duke rider and he will probably be more worried out his broken pride and joy.

get well soon Al. We're thinking of you.

PS Barney wasn't out with the duke club either and unfortunately we had one go down as well. Ended up off the road and missed a lot of obstacles yhankfully. She was in the good hands of the ambos and said she was ok apart from the broken leg (I think, I have no update on diagnosis)

Have a good hard think guys, I know I am.

His helmet was a Arai which I think he bought in the UK.

I've been to see him again tonight and he was in a better spirit than yesterday. He is slowly improving but seems very tired, which I think is down to the amount of visitors he has had today.
He has also got a fractured shoulder just for good measure.
Hopefully he will be out for christmas day.

Thank you all for your comments.

Cheers

I've been to see Barney again today and he was sat up on his bed, so that is a great improvement. Don't get me wrong he is on a long road to recovery. He is still in a lot of pain, he's full of bruises and needs pain killers on a regular basis. He can't hear anything out of his right ear which hopefully will return to normal in time.
Its looking grim for Barney being home for christmas day which is sad, like I said he's got a long road to recovery but he's a strong person so i'm sure he will get there in time.

Cheers
Andy

Just to survive with that list of injuries is already an increadible acheivement, and it sounds as though he is on the road to recovery... All the best for a full recovery!
