Hmmmm, it might be the same place that colscats recommended but one of my relies just got back from bali and highly recomended a place just up the road from the bounty.
Ill find out the name and post it up later...

Basically u can go into the store with a list and they will get all the dvd's for ya , or you can view their lists and they will get em for ya. They also have DVD players in the store so you can test em before you buy them :D I think most DVD's were from $1.50 - $2 and PS2 games were $2.50.

Next they'll find a correlation between abandoned single mothers and bike registrations.

As for DVD's a few mates have come back with bundles and never had more than a say 1 in 10 be no good, or mentioned any place being better than another.

Some have dvd's players there that you can test them on first.

Ummmm just some advice. The DVD you going to get from BALI are obviously not legal and isnt there some customs fine if you are caught bringing them over? Last time i went to an asian country I bought over 50 dvd/cd/software titles and I was scared. I bought a cheap cd wallet and placed them in there and put the labels in another bag. When they opened the cd wallet I said I bought them here.

Thats my tip but anyway im sure there is some fine for being in large amounts of priated discs.

how do you know they're pirate discs?

I thought that they were completely legitimate and that's what I'd say if questioned.

Pirate cds have bad quality printing and usually sold as sleeves compared to boxes.

I thought that they were completely legitimate and that's what I'd say if questioned.

Im sure they are quite sick of hear similar comments like this. They know you know. :) Quite obvious if you coming home from BALI.

ahhh "they know you know".

Yet you're talking about a criminal offence which requires a burden of proof, proof beyond reasonable doubt.

I think you'll find that there will be no problem bring back some discs, obviously for personal use as the investigation into any offence would be unreasonable in relation to the offence committed.

Don't you think the line "oh i bought them here" hasn't been used more than once. If you have 200 copies of Titanic in your suitcase that might be different.

I have a friend who works for customs and more often than not they are usually just winding you up to see you splutter. His favourite is questioning bleary bloodshot eyed guys just back from Amsterdam if they enjoyed the cafe shops and watching them do a denial dance.

We have enough fear mongering from our friends at TT to then get it from the board too.

Two years ago I bought back 80 D.V.D s from bali in the hard boxes,
As I did'nt have anything to declare since I had'nt spent $400 on crap I just went through the non declare section where all your cases get x rayed.
Bad move since quarretine(sp) have been told to look out for D.V.D s,
so we get pulled up and told the whole mumbo of are these your cases etc
so over comes customs being all the pricks that they can be asking me have I got a shop and you are going to hire them out.
I told them that I dont even have a D.V.D player and that I got because they were cheap ( $4 back then) any way after lectureing they let me go.
Now I just import them straight from bali and have'nt had any probs since.

My mate came back from bali bout 6 months back and he bought like 20 DVD's. about 10 were perfect then the rest a mix with some having good image but shit sound vica versa.. and some just skipped.. still he was wrapped.

My suggestion is that you go to places that have a DVD & Tv setup so you can actually view em b4 buying. I think a fair few places have that.

The other thing is make sure you don't go after The newest releases as they were all crap. But stuff that has already come out on DVD is usually pretty good qual.

hope it helps

all this bali dvd crap. Their 'rips' are shit, just get decent ones off the internet, it's not that hard. For movies with a lot of special effects/movings parts, quite often, you are better off buying the dvd just to get that extra quality.

daz.. I used to get dvd releases BEFORE it would come out at the cinema. That is a DVD rip, not the actual dvd but still the best quality rip that you can get.

Well knowing what happens here in Australia and thier "Strict" laws im sure whoever sells pirated stuff will get investigated thoroughly by the authorities (im talking about businesses not teenagers who advertise in the quokka). So I doubt kmart would sell pirated copy.

Like what the other guys and girls have already said, you will not find a DVD quality of a current movie shown here or recently released. If do you then they are just a camcorder version of the movie. However if they are really good dvd qulaity then they are DVD SCREENER of the actual movie which got leaked.

If you got ADSL or have friends which have adsl, just download them. This is what I do every month and I still have a huge list of movies to watch that I havent had time to. After that purchase yourself a dvd burner and cheap media and buy a XMS888 divx player from Strathfield and host ur own premiere.

Or, alternatively, just grab a computer with a tv out vid card and use that as your movie machine 8)
