Ok,
At the MCRCWA meeting last night we were asking for volunteers to help out at the Australian round of the superbikes on the 26 27 28 29 May, One of the main tasks is the putting up and taking down of the airfence.
What has been decided is that if you volunteer to help with the airfence then the club will give you a free racecraft track day , either advanced or novice....it doesn't matter.
We are after 8 people who will be required on thursday 26th from 4pm and then again on Sun 29 from the completion of racing, Both constuction and removal of the fence will only take a few hours on the two afternoons
Along with the racecraft you will also get free entry to the round.

So for those who don't have the cash to do a racecraft course well this may be your chance to get out onto the track.
You need to be able to attend BOTH afternoons.
It may be a chance for a group of riders from the forum to all get out there together for a trackday !

For those people interested PM me your details, first in first serve

I am waiting for my roster for that period to be released. I am going to put to put my hand up for something (they originally wanted guys for the airfence but anyone welcome to apply(15/5)) and be a flaggie, or office runner, or butter bread etc, but just dont know which days yet.

From what I hear they are particularily looking for general volunteers and flaggies for the Friday (practice).

Yeah Bec , they are after guys for the airfence.....damm sexist club !!! (thats why I love it !!)
There is still a big need for flaggies and Marshalls for all of the days

I got really excited when I read the post... Free racecraft day? Free round entry? HELL YES!!!!!!

- Then I got brought down to earth with a thump. I'm a girl. I'll likely be in a bad mood for the rest of the day now!!

Yes it is a bit sexist isn't it <_<

I seem to remember somewhere that to get extra Government funding sports needed to embrace the fairer sex :P (well not literally - though some would like too :P :o )

Seems to me if ya can do the job, then ya should be allowed too :D

Just my opinion

I'm probably bigger, uglier and stronger than half the guys that'll end up doing it, too! ;) Oh well...

It's not an attempt to be sexist , i think it's more relevant to the job being carried out and the amount of lifting/physical work that is being done. regardless of if you can do the work or not women are limited to what they can lift under OH and S.
I'm more than happy to approach the club with the names of girls as well, it was just a concern they had .....sorry if i've offended anyone!

Looks like the OH&S issues (If you could call it that) is one big ass EEO issue. How about looking for the right people for the right job. I know you have little to do with the choice Tex, but really, do I need a set of balls and some testosterone to lift something!!!!!!!

There's an easy way to let the boys AND the girls do the Air fences;
1. Throw away the compessors and pumps.
2. Get the Guys to lift and position said airfences into place
3. Girls blow like youve never blown before.
Simple :)

*waits for ban*

Guys and Girls, we now have the required number of people for the air fence, I'll make some phone calls in the next few days when I have a few more details.
Thanks heaps to all those people who offered to help out.
What I'm trying to organise with the club is a discounted racecraft(1/2 price) to those people who help out the club on a regular basis, so if you work as a flaggie for two to three state rounds then you get a half price racecraft, still trying to work out the details with the club.
for those people who are still keen to help out at the Australian round I think they still need flaggie/marshals !
