Back to the original Question, why RZ500 are in demand?
Have a look at this combo doing a presentation lap last month in honour of 80 years of Asser TT!
Awsome!
The original 500cc 4 cilinder factory racer, grand daddy of the RZ500!

less than 1400 units came to Australia and the whole 53G allocation was for Australia 882 bikes.
How many 250 350 RZ bikes were imported here?
Maybe this also has an influence on the current market price!
1400 units came to australia and how many where sent back as they could sell them?
I did spot and had a good look at the RZV in Peter Stevens Melbourne shop a couple of weeks ago.
There were some other nice Ducati's there as well.

A new never ran (so lots of $ if built to run but you wouldnt) one was snapped up for 35k about when this thread was last active.
Forum member sold a restored one that was no oil painting at first, was advertised around 17k 2 yrs ago.
Also a roughie advertised last year on the south coast for 14k, didnt appear to be au compliance.
Love to know where $1500 top end rebuilds were in 2010? Surely that was just one of 4 cylinders lol.

My engine build was 6600 a few years ago, and that was having orig crankshafts (there is two spinning opposite directions), cases and barrels.
I imagine no change from 10k now dending on parts and finding someone up to the task to build and tune for longevity.
They are reed valve.
YPVS is the problem, mines all removed.
Prices seem to be 15k and upwards, im a 4 stroke man, a decision thats taken 30 yrs to realise.
Some poor deluded souls love the 2blokes though, they didnt grow up with them.
My bike was 6499 new,
I was looking for a 250 but a mate with an RG500 talked me into it. I paid $2800 couple months old with a few hundred km on the clock as Yamaha moved the remaining stock for $3990. Owner was getting married.... the poor bloke, I must track him down and give him first option. He will have to pay over 5 times the price now though.
Women havnt held their value quite as well.
My tradesman at the time said it was a plastic fantastic worthless jap bike, and said i should have got a beeza or trumpy.

Reed valve..... OK Knock 2500 off the top straight away "no rotes..."
mmmm ypvs is ok for what it's worth ...port tune n barrels might be hard to get right..?
So it's just 2 x RZ 250 's jammed together with 2 cranks...?
You have a runner...eh?
Is there a market for these things..? the way fuel quality is going in WA...? ( AUS...? )
Feel free to edit...
