All good mate, I did the same with my forks so realise how easy it is to do. If there are any pics that you need and don't have just let me know and I'll take them.

Big day today. I got the new tyres onto the ground. In fact I got pretty disgusted when I saw them collect dirt as I rolled it over to Sharky's ute.

The fairings are rubbed back ready for primer, and the rolling chassis is now with potato too. I made the mistake of telling him about some carbon parts I'd found on eBay and he egged me in to buying them, I never used to succumb to peer pressure

I can't express how excited I am about seeing this scheme come together, especially with the carbon bits I've found along the way. In the meantime I'd better get a move on with the engine - the workbench is clear... for the moment.

So stuff is getting exciting, the fairings are mocked up ready for masking the new scheme up. What else... well the Zeeltronic programmable ignition and power valve system has arrived from Slovenia, the SS and CF Jim Lomas exhaust has reached Sydney from Czechoslovakia, the crank and barrels have landed in NSW for porting and rebuilding with Yamaha rods and Cagiva pistons, a light tint windscreen has arrived from Screens for Bikes, and I'm about to part with an arm for Cougar Power valves, TTW heads and a bunch of other motor goodness from the UK.

Blue Haze Day in November? Hmmmyeaahhh, I think that's doable. The gearbox is almost stripped so I'm searching for a vapour blaster prior to hours of masking followed by a trip to the powdercoater for the engine cases. With any luck the mechanicals should be ready to reassemble shortly after the bike returns.

I have to say that I'm loving the way this thing is coming together!! Helping potato put the fairings back on today I knew this was the right way to spend my savings, I no longer think of this as an old-looking bike - it's an aerodynamically styled bike (wind tunnel tested!) for the road. Whereas the RS125 is an obnoxious looking boy, this thing is definitely a graceful lady.

A side affect is that I have myself two lodgers now, just to fill up the piggybank. Problem is that the bike parts were stored in one of the rooms, just as well I don't mind them being in my room!

Have you looked at VHM heads as well? When I ordered mine late last year they worked out a bit cheaper and they don't charge extra if you want the inserts made to your dimensions.

The CR heads come with the integrated spigot so IMO look a bit nicer. For most I would have thought a standard insert design would suit, although when I wanted some custom ones made up it was something like $50 all up I think.

Yeah, mine was kit base gaskets so standard inserts wouldn't suit. Looks weren't a consideration for me either

    Update time.

Bodywork Ė Itís being painted this week. I changed the concept for the colour scheme yet again after seeing an RS125 in the Caffe Latte scheme I had planned, it didnít look great... Anyhow BlackFZR is going to get on with the new decals and with any luck the bike should be back with me in a few short weeks with the fairings looking better than new Ė even the tabs have been repaired. I found a couple of pieces of pretty trick carbon too, just to add some bling

Engine Ė The pistons, bearings, valves, heads, rods, seals, gaskets etc are all arriving piecemeal from their various suppliers to EEKNOWS. The Zeeltronic stuff is with me now - hooray The cases are being vapour blasted and then are off to the powder coaters and potato for some detailing, and Iíve stripped, cleaned and masked the carburetors ready for detailing also.

Plenty of detailing to keep me busy, plus the gearbox to rebuild whilst Iím waiting - though it looks like new. Iíve also got to start ordering up on stainless fixings to reassemble everything Ė I swear the factory carburetor machine-threaded screws were made of cheese. This thing is going to be pretty! Absolutely no idea what Iíll use it for though :/

Iím not really looking forward to reattaching the myriad of hoses, Iíve taken heaps of photos and have the manual to help me but I swear the electrical system is simpler than the fuel! Anyhow itís all looking on track to make the next two stroke ride. With the RS125 behaving well I should have at least one bike there, a welcome change after missing out on the last one.

That's all for now - exciting times!

Ooo, shiny The engine colour coding has started to take shape:

That was some hours with several taps, a stanley blade, Dremel and wet and dry - even after being extremely careful with the masking. Southside Powdercoaters in O'Connor took great care and the finish is fantastic, I can't recommend them enough.

A while ago I sent my sorry looking engine cases off for a bit of vapour blasting. $100 later I got these back:

And you saw the powdercoating to the gearbox case above. I also had a bit of painting done by potato and I've been keen to see how it all came together. This weekend saw me rebuild the gearbox with EBC Heavy Duty friction plates and clutch springs as well as a gearbox rebuild kit from TTW. One bush wasn't included in the kit and Savage Suzuki had it for me the next day (fantastic service!), and some Koyo bearings were sourced off the shelf of Precision Motion in O'Connor (as installed originally). Plus some shiny SS from ProBolt and a local fastener suppler.

Folks, this is the what comes from hours and hours of masking, degreasing, rinsing with acetone, squinting at photographs to see which side of the bearing that f-cking washer was supposed to sit, and generally enjoying the process of getting something right

    The results:

The crank and cylinders should only be a couple of weeks away and I'm really hoping the fairings are coming back from their custom scheme this week. There are a few parts to order but I'm hoping the bike could be looking whole by the end of October.
