Our third night in my motorbike tent in the bush. Out to cave rock and now near Coolgardie. Great bush tracks a bit missing from the side rail many scratches to buff out. Did bit of the Holland track as well today. Lovely Sunset and camp fire

Then back to the radiation clinic for Lins last visit. A celebration meal with our girls at City Beach and a new second hand car for her.

Well it's been quiet in here and that is good as long as people are well.

Mental illness can hit at anytime and I found that out so the support of members here, friends and taking action to get better have seen that happen. This time reminds me of hard it can be to climb back up.

I left my career in law enforcement one that I tried to make a differnce in two months short of forty years.

On Thursday at 61 years I move into a new job and direction for me. I take up a casual position in Mental Health and hope that I can make a difference to people.

Well done G. Just remember though, it's only a job. You and the ones you hold dearest to your heart are the most important. Sounds like an awesome role for you though....

    Hi,

As a corporate sponsor I can now offer 12 hour Standard Mental Health First Aid and also a four hour suicide prevention course to members. I would provide a discounted rate to PSB members.

Please see the link to the corporate sponsors page.

    Update.

I have just completed my first Edition 4 Standard Mental Health First Aid course this weekend. There were numerous changes to the Edition 3 Course and this was a trial course for me to gain familiarity with the new layout and materials.

    One of the testimonials.
I would highly recommend this course, it was really valuable for teaching practical skills and also for correcting myths and stereotypes about mental health that we may have. Grae's knowledge and rich experience complimented the material and made the course not just informative but highly enjoyable. C.

Tomorrow I attend the Mental Health First Aid Instructor CPD Workshop. Some subjects:

Reflections and Directions for MHFA. CEO Mental Health First Aid Australia.

A whole person perspective on recovery for people with psychotic illness. Professor Vera Morgan.

Mental health of children and adolescents. Professor Davis Lawrence.

Moving Forward Project: Transforming systems to improve mental health and drug and alcohol outcomes for Aboriginal peoples. Dr Michael Wright.

Then meetings with our Instructor Coordinators.

I am really looking forward to learning more at this and meeting other instructors.
