Have I/ we / some of us forgotten to just do things because they are there?

I met a lovely PSB lady on Sunday. She is so full of enthusiasm wanting to learn long distance riding, so many questions. So much joy, so much looking forwards.

I took something away from this meeting, some spark that made me remember the time when I rode because I just wanted to, I explored on my bike because I just wanted too. The bike has been put away so much and I felt the need to justify its existence by "I am riding for a cause, riding for a reason. The reason" it was no longer me.

Sprint, you tried to get me out when I was down, I thank you for that but I just could not come I was too far down, but that you cared thanks.
I had forgotten the joy and had lost it.

So I have done something, I hope I can go through with this. I have booked a room at Border Village for Saturday the 5th of August. 3,000 kilometres in probably cold and maybe wet conditions in four days with me and my bike.

I have changed my thoughts, well trying hard to. Putting some balance back, yes I will still do the Black Dog Rides but I need to ride for me as well.

I have also decided that I will head overseas and bought the tickets for later this year. A lady in NZ that I have been assisting through extremely tough times on the internet for five years just went to Spain sending lovely pics. A friend of ours has bought a holiday home in Spain and given us the keys! So I am going!

Thank you Miss PSB rider a coffee and listening to your enthusiasm took me back to the time I was like this and I want it back so bad.

Was it nine or ten years ago I first did this ride with a PSB rider. He gave me tips along the way and we had a great ride. I was personally welcomed in to the Border by Davo (RIP) the original FarRider. The sticker he gave me is still on my pannier bag. We rode out to Madura Pass and set up a memorial to Davo and we always stop off here.

I met a dejected MotoGuzzi Rider at Baladonia on this first ride. I had known of Mike for five years on a car forum but never met him till this day. Dejected as two fines in one day riding out where there was no one to hurt but himself.

Since that meeting Mike and myself have been best friends. We did many long distance rides together, every stop a smiling and laughing session. He now does it riding in the dirt long distances and we also go four wheel driving trips at Easter with our wives who don't mind tents under the stars.

I have put this up before but it was written by an American Author and Emmy Award winner that we lead out of Perth on their across Australia ride. Some may not have seen it. James Moore certainly has a way of expressing the ride as if you were there.

    Hey G..

    I have a question....

    If that's ok?

    (nah that wasn't the question..)

I worry ....a lot.. we share a thing...a connection. I umm... I am having trouble phrasing the question....although I want to ask it here...open...forum..honest answer..ok?

"Are you prepared for the ride...?'

I guess that really is the question....I fear for you ...and I guess that is a sign that I care..( maybe I should have P.M...d ) Dunno... now that I have said that...

You ought.. to get a quick checkup...before you go.... ( hint..appendics/bowel..) sorry mate.. you know I hate to ruin anyone's fun....( Just get that check up)

I'll have egg on my face again if I'm wrong.... soz...

    I hate being me...

Just had a blast ...from the past...

    Cathie..... just ....called me.

It may have been to say ..all is ok.

yet I fear ...that is not the case

I missed the call ...no one answers.. when I aim at recollect.

    It's called passing....for a reason.

I see her red hair...her face.

I hate this.. I hope it's all a lie.. my mind must hate me .... I forever deny her..

All I can say is...'I had wished a better life ...for you Cathie."

I tried.....and yet failed....( how do you do a kiss.?) ;- I dunno....

I tried but failed? A common feeling? Hard on ourselves using the failed word yet hard not to use it.

Maybe it is better to have at least tried than not to have. I tried to save someone got her breathing three times, she did not make it. I blamed myself but it was not my fault. Yet I felt I had failed. Now I know I tried and I could not have changed the outcome.

It's hard to be kind on yourselves yet you would not be so hard on anyone else.

I can only guess we are here for a reason....Lately I avoid watching the news with any attachment ..I still watch, and it looks like it's all so unreal.

I know the 'media microscope' would have you believe they created the stories presented..As if to say 'it's my information' Now you must see it.

Each outlet has a different spin on the same issue/situation...each outlet is claiming "first-Latest-best" Are we better off being left to find our own reality..?

I see kids...having fun...watching kids shows, doing kids things. None the wiser that anything outside that world exists.

I was cleaning up the front garden yesterday, having a beer...when I could hear someone throwing rocks.

A local highschool kid was smashing a brick on the ground as he walked past my cars in the driveway smaller and smaller the pieces ..

I questioned his behaviour-- "Hey ...what's your problem....?" he just stopped and looked at me.

He said.." I'm just angry..." And we agreed he would ..'Let it out' But not throw rocks near the cars in the street, or at anyone.

He walked away calmly...I still question his actions. In my head I wonder what will become of all of us.

Is it fair to say the more we all connect through social media-the more we disconnect from each other. We have filters on' instasham' that prevent 'bad words' being used. oh wai.....

    Dementure

A couple of weeks ago my Mum was formally diagnosed. We had thought it was there for a few years but now confirmed.

Her brothers were in WWII, uncle Jimmy a Pilot Officer killed three weeks before the end of the war. My other Uncle Logan was not the same after the Russion convoys and being bombed on an oil tanker and suicided when I was seven.

I took Mum to the RAAFA Aircraft Heritage Museum today. She loved the Spitfire as she as a young girl saw them flying over her house coming into land. The search lights that she saw at night and the Imperial typewriter she used for my Grandad. He died when I was four. Mum said he never recovered from my Uncles air crash.
They ran up a Spitfire engine today and also an Airspeed Oxford engine that was my Uncles plane.

A very special day, some things very real others not but glad we did this. Mum so impressed that the museum has done such a great job she loves aircraft from her time.

Totally agree with this. Media and news networks aren't worth shit.
(A couple of days ago, "see exclusive pictures on channel 7 of the beer that Shawn Newton will never get to finish") bottom feeding maggots who love to scare the shit out of the public instead of making this world a better place.

I stopped watching tele due to a) reality tv programs and b) the "news".
I was waiting for a doctor's appointment one morning a few month's ago and the tv was on Sunrise or summat and they had the news segment - the first 5 news items were about people being injured/killed in domestics, car accidents etc - e.g. Sharon from Melville etc., nothing of a global, big-picture nature. If news is meant to keep us informed about things that affect us/others on a major scale, I don't mean to be insincere but how does Sharon from Melville being bashed by her defacto have any bearing on my life other than to invoke the emotion in us that makes us feel like better human beings for caring about Sharon? Sure I don't like that Sharon's been bashed; it sucks, but it seems that people like to hear the news that is on a local, emotional level rather than true news.

Social media is even worse... it is poison.

    The Border Run 2017.

What a day, power failures before I set off to work ruined my early start, then Inet not working when I got home at 6pm and I have just finished rebuilding the work that I lost.

Tomorrow first the dentist then I plan, all being well to ride out to Southern Cross have a sleep then off to the Border Village early Friday. Spend a day just being there, then head back starting Sunday am.

Been a bit anxious about it today on and off. No support crew or rider with me so a challenge that I have set myself. As some know I was involved in some pretty bad situations during rides in 2014 and 2015. I feel I need to face things or sit at home. I have done this before and enjoyed it so I know that I have done it.

Once I am on the road I will be all good.

Defiantly this today's media and governments don't serve its true purpose, the only time you here of what's really going on is Wikileaks, documentaries and left wing uprising.

The media has been beating up this plane terrorist got to the airport as advised and it was no different to any other day. And Australian police had no idea bullshit its called the five eye program.

Also sadly people that do report the real news and whistleblowers face jail, exile or death.

On the road again and staying the night in Southern Cross. Riding in at 5 pm the setting sun casting a shadow of me and my bike is something that grabs me. Peaceful time of the day.
