Uncovered it, wheeled it outside, photographed it, studied it.
Started it up, warmed the engine.
    Mused.

Chucked a pair of Dyna Mini Coils on it. ( drained carbs--Tank off- turned the key and it fired and turned over on fumes...woo hoo!!!! )

Late edit... SOP Dyno.. better pull idle to redline @ any throttle opening.. massive midrange improvement. :-) :-) Exhaust tone change....too.

Didn't actually fit anything but have dropped the coin and finally ordered a new rear shock for the old girl

With some advice from m0n4g3 on how his shock has gone I decided to plump for a Wilbers 641 but went the Blackline as opposed to blue, given the Titanium colour of the bike the blue would have looked funny IMO

Still it's basically the same as this pic vv except for a black spring, didn't get the remote rebound I didn't really see the need given the extra ~$320

I went through Suspensions R Us.com.au as I'd queried them about 1 1/2 years ago about it and had a good response to my questions and Wilbers had 10% off for Octoberfest so saved myself ~$125 All up for the 641 Blackline with ride height adjuster set up for my weight with postage is $1161

Contacted another place in Qld called Suspension Improvements who said much the same as SusRus and the price was within a couple of $

Also emailed YSS regarding the Hyperpro which also appear to be a good shock and although in basic form is slightly cheaper, once you add in the fact getting it set up for my weight etc costs $100 extra it comes out slightly more expensive with the 10% discount on the Wilbers and with SusRUs I only needed to pay a 30% deposit up front

Now just have to wait 4 weeks for it to be delivered

Just don't expect SuRUs to hold your hands after the delivery. I had bad after sales service with an Adelaide mob that sold me a HyperPro Streetbox kit, so I queried these guys to see how much better they are. They were not. Pre-sale service was really good, but when it came to setting up and getting it right, they just seemed to have no time left for me. Better off booking in one of the locals and pay them for the time to get things just so.

TBH I don't really expect them to do much in regards to final setup given they don't know the way I ride or the exact road conditions etc etc

In fact even when I got the 900RR shock rebuilt and the damping altered by Russell @ Dyno Time he was quite vague about how to change the damping and then gave little info about how to set it up in the bike

I'll fit it up myself, set the sags and then do some fiddling and if necessary will give MM a call

Looked at all the ER-6n frame/wheels/engine/panel work/bits in boxes and thought "Bugger....I'd better get all this sorted and back together"!!!

Mate helped me with his carbtune and his expertise and we balanced the throttle bodies on the Z1000, my gosh what a difference after ~3 years and about ~20,000k since the last time it was done.

Idle is smooth as butter, could balance a coin on the engine. instead of a wubwubwubwubwubwubwub it's just vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv vvvvvvv

Then the low rpm/low throttle/transition from low to high as you roll on is just gorgeous again. I think for anyone who just rode the bike you'd never know it was out, but as the owner the difference feels huge.

Massive improvement and would recommend checking and syncing to virtually anyone with a multi cylinder engine where it hasn't been done in a good amount of time or k's - as long as it's not at a silly cost.

Got my brand new Panigale V4 that I am slowly modifying.

For today - fitted a set of Evotech levers and the throttle spacers to remove the play in the throttle. Its my first Ducati, apparently sloppy throttles is normal for them? Felt like poor workmanship to me.

I've had two Ducs, never had an issue with sloppy throttles. Sounds to me like something that should have been sorted out by the shop you bought it from prior to delivery. Frasers?
