    I've had cables made by:

    WWW.Flexibledrive.com.au

    Also in Welshpool, was happy with the results.

    To date:

    Coffee and catch up with the State Manager;

    More thorough catch up over coffee with the State Manager and a Business Development Manager;

    Formal interview today with the Regional Manager (same person as State Manager, he had a role change/promotion) and Practice Development Manager, then also the Business Development Coordinator. They're sharp people and kept me on my toes.

    I find out next week if they want me in for a second official interview with the Regional Manager and an Executive from the East Coast (by way of video conference). And in the meantime they'll establish if they have authority to hire someone for this newly created role...

    Then I guess it's reference checks, personality tests, racial profiling and a timed obstacle course

    Happy days if I get it, it's a job I've wanted to do for years. And I can put some money back in to my mortgage!

    I'd need another bike to put them on.

    1990 VFR750 maybe. Right after my Bimota V-Due and NR750.

    Trying to work through the rear shock with a GSXR750 racer and a Nitron engineer. The valving for the 750 and 1100 are near identical so it looks as though the spring should be the 750 length at the 1100 rate, maybe a touch softer to account for the lighter 750 weight. Interesting stuff!

    That thing that wasn't going to happen:

    To this:

    To this:

    Just waiting on Russ at Dyno Time who's welding the steering race out of my frame. Then it's off to have the anodising stripped. Then '86 style factory bracing to be applied. Then painting - can't get it anodised here in Perth because of the cast sections, although that doesn't stop people in the UK and US from having it done successfully :/

    Pretty sure that's going to take a month or two but there's plenty to do in the meantime.

    Oh I'll probably just wait for a few more comments like this and then arrange for a Yoshi technician to fly to Australia and take care of it.

    ...Or not!

    The main anodising guys in Perth don't do the greatest work anyway, at least in my experience.

    I had them do my oil cooler (as being anodised already it would need de-anodising for paint to stick), expecting the nice deep black finish of every other black anodised part I've come across.

    Got it back a dull matte black with a hint of purple in it, which wasn't ideal, but I could deal with it. Said hint of purple has become progressively more pronounced though, and the cooler now has quite an obvious pink/purple tinge to it.

    I have a number of cheapo eBay parts where the black anodising on them has fared *far* better.

    In hindsight I really wish I'd just de-anodised it with caustic soda and hit it with some gloss black paint. At some stage it's likely that I'll eventually get sick of it and end up doing that anyway.

    I've had similar experience. I was so disappointed with an upper triple clamp on the Aprilia that I tossed it and bought a brand new CNC milled clamp that I hadn't planned on.

    Actually, same with the rear pillion seat plugs. I had Potato paint them in the end, a far better finish.

    Why are they so poor in WA? The work on their website looks pretty good.

    I was hoping for hard or grey/clear anodising. They told me to get it ceramic coated instead...

    I have no idea, but I suspect either to save time and power they don't anodise parts very "deeply", or they use shitty dyes with no resistance to breakdown by UV/heat.

    Both scenarios are ridiculous, because there are $15 Chinese eBay parts on my bike that have fared fine in the same conditions.

    It seems there is a big difference between anodising that looks good right after it comes out of the tank, and anodising that still looks good after being in use for 6 months on a bike.

    Which anodising companies have you tried?
