    2015 KTM 1290 Superduke

Purchased a 1290 Superduke about 2 months ago after test riding one for a weekend, it didn't take long until my mind was made up that I just had to have one of these beasts. I will start a project on it and this is where I am up to now.

    Ready for pick up.

First addition is a KTM rear fender eliminator and custom rego plate.

To protect the bike I purchased a set of crash knobs from Evotech in England as I have found their engineering to be one of the best in the business. So side and front axle first.

Next was some protection for the R/H side engine cover from Sato, nice piece this along with some Sato frame plugs.

The Akrapovic muffler turned up so after removing the baffle it was fitted and has a very nice tone to it at that.

Next I wanted more adjustment in the hand levers so bought some CRG models and also added some KTM branded and anodised master cylinder (front and rear) as well as the clutch.

Next was a powerparts gel seat and KTM heated grips.

Now for some tasty carbon pieces. I like the KTM orange so with the front guard I went with a half guard, the other pieces are a rear hugger, exhaust guard, headlight surround, tank insert around fuel cap, coolant overflow tank cover and opposit side cover for wiring.

I use this bike a lot now and go away for weekends so I fitted a Ventura rack but with the rear fender eliminator the indicators wouldn't fit under or over the rack so I had to make up some brackets.

And this is how she sits at this point.

Just do it. Seriously, if you look up the standing rules of PSB it goes something like this.

    1. Dont be a dick
    2. Desmo is allowed to be a dick (sometimes)
    3. Buy the one with the most Duke
    4. Dont ask about fixing the search function.
    etc etc..

Ok I had time today to install the Evotech engine guard that stops stones and small children from hitting the motor when the front wheel is in the air (a lot) and also fit up the Evotech rear axle crash knobs which means being a single sided swingarm you have to remove it when you want to use the race stand.

How do you find the pp seats compared to the stocker? Any difference in height and slant?

Are you using a particular website to collect all your gear? I'm starting to put some bits pieces on the 990R. Found a couple but all the good ones are US based and dont ship internationally.

The PP seat is great and I can go further in comfort as my wife (on her MT09) and I go out for a ride and on average do between 450 to 500 klms in a day. Stand by as I have ordered and should be receiving this week a Corbin seat.

Next phase is this unbelievably well made Corbin seat that arrived today and just went straight on no problem. I bought a Corbin seat for my 2006 R1SP and the M109R Boulevard, the cruiser seat is heated and is very, very comfortable. No heating on the KTM seat but the way they shape them is so much better than any standard or gel seat.

The next addition that will be fitted are these beautifully made rear wheel sprocket carrier and rear wheel nuts using 7075-T6 bars. These are very light and very strong as well as looking trick.

Moto Star in Frankston Vic. I do know the owner very well though but the demo bike is still there as far as I know. That ride sold me for sure.

How do you find the bottom end on this bad boy? I rode one a while ago and remember being really disappointed at the punch it had down low coming from my Streetfighter 848. Reading this thread makes me think I should go back and ride it again.

The main reason I loved this bike is because of it's tons of torque, 1,2 & 3rd are geared fairly low so it gets of the mark like a rocket ship and 4th & 5th are great over 4000 revs, 6th is useless unless you are doing over 115 kph but does give the bike really good economy. I would say that you go out again and ride it like you stole it and use the gears correctly as it would be very different to the streetfighter. Cheers

Looking at the protection gear mostly, the evotech sliders, clutch cover/slider. Were the CRG's local?

    Cheers
