    Sorry to hear.
Does it need a new tank? (you can get tanks resealed with the 2-pack resin mixture things if you are concerned about the internal surfaces...?

I thought of you last weekend as I was doing a clean out.
I have a workshop manual for the ZXR if you want it?

That was the plan but the tank badly dented not a issue but it wasnt fixed properly and started to rust under the bog so tank isnt fixable

Dunno where this project is going a bit. Maybe the heat is making me go crazy.
Thought I might type my plans out and maybe by the end i'll have made a decision or at least someone might give me some feedback

I'm in two minds, either to make a period piece endurance race bike

    or

    Make a custom endurance racer

People have shown me this from ICON 1000

I don't like the classic endurance bug eyes look so was going to install some ancillary LED lights and this rig from ICON looks pretty integrated, so that maybe the way to go.

My OEM headlights are cracked, so swap them out for a halogens with a LED halo ring. Why, dunno. They look cool

And then to retrofit a new "icon1000" like light mount in front of the fairing to add these

why square - i'm not sure but everything in the 80/90's was square so why not

But its how mount them is the question?
Taking the current headlights off to show the mounts 330 x 90

So perhaps a plate fitted here to mount the new headlamps and provide a base plate for struts with threaded ends both ends to punch through the fibreglass nose to form the light rig/protector?

Im gunna try and draw a CAD drawing up to mock up something.

The other thing i don't like is my OEM speedo, tach, and oil temp cluster. Its a gotta go.

I like the minimalist lines of race bikes that use lap timers, like this

So that's where i want to head. The down side is that lap timers are like speedangle.com.au are $500
and lets face it - im no GP rider so why spend that.

I wonder what the downside of using a smartphone and having a GPS speedometer running would be. Is there is a electronic ignition like DYNA 2000 but that has bluetooth that could rely revs etc info to a smartphone
    display?

Last bit is bit of a bugger - metal polishing.

I had a quick go at polishing the swing arm with a sisal pad on a drill and then buffing. Yeah it works but....

There is no way i'm going to achieve that finish all through the nooks and crannies.
So i don't know what to do now.....

I've seen show bikes with mirror like frame and swingarms. They must have been sandblasted and polished. I wonder how much that costs?

On the upside i can probably polish up my rearsets. So i've bought some replacement adjustable pegs

oh, and some lever protectors to emulate what icon1000 did

    thats where im at.
Ill post when ive cadded up the light mount. cheers

while waiting for the painting to be done, i've been thinking about the lighting, dash and battery cradle

To get the "endurance look" i've bought 2 extra LED lights that are mounted on the front, similar to this from ICON

So i have removed the OEM lights to reveal the mounts where a retrofitted mount will need to go

Its a bit hard to design this without the fairing back on fitted, so ill put that one on the back burner but i have bought the replacement 5 3/4" lamps with LED Halo lights
But it needs to mount the new LED headlamps plus the 2 aux light and a mount for the go-pro.

The instrument cluster is in need of a revamp cos its so 1990's. With the extra lights i need a sleeker setout and more "race feel".
So ive CADded up two mounts:
One that uses the mounts for the ignition barrel mount to hold a new ignition switch and light switches plus the mounting holes for a new dan-moto digital cockpit and killswitch etc
And the second off the old speedo/tach mount a new mount for the RaceChrono Lap Timer and the Qstarz BT-Q818XT Bluetooth GPS Receiver plus a mount for a smartphone which will use the RaceChrono app

this is a roughy attempt - like 10min of drafting

Who know if it will end up looking like that WIP

The other thing is the rear shock, cos i have bought an ZX9 shock it has a reservoir which will hit the battery box, i need to cut it off and build a new one

mounted off the rear shock mount (design shamelessly stolen from another forum - Cheers Ninjafromoz)

Now i have to research a lithium battery to power all of this!

    Cheers

Unsure of which units do it but a timed cut wired into the sidestand kill switch will give you an upshift quickshifter....

    http://hmquickshifter.com/quickshifter-plus/

read a bit here. most of the ones you see are just micro switches that plug into the ecu, like the one you listed. The ecu controls the ignition cut timing.
The product from HM has the controller self contained, ie stand alone. This is what you are looking for.
More than 10 minutes searching should find a much cheaper unit.
