    Pikes Peak Hill Climb

Just skimming the entry list and noticed we've got an Aussie riding there this year on a 1290 no less.
For anyone interested I found this article

    http://www.cycleonline.com.au/2016/0...al-hill-climb/

Hope he does well in the race.

Interesting that last year they changed the rules to disallow clip-on style sportsbikes.

Anybody here been to this event?

Been up there in a car. Intimidating! Actually got altitude sickness at the top. Don't know how they race bikes up there. Balls of steel. The drop offs are "no return".

Climb dance is incredible, everything is a bit more watered down now there is bitumen to the top, faster maybe but some of its soul has gone

Whilst a huge feat. Why leave it so late? Screams bad planning (not that I am any better). Imagine if they had twice as long to build/test/tune it...

Look out for Guy Martin, apparently he has bailed from riding the "box full of neutrals" Fireblade & is looking at going on 4-wheels there.

Electric is borderline cheating when comparing their performance to combustion vehicles. Crazy torque, torque vectoring and no loss in power at the higher altitude. 3 massive advantages they hold and whilst yeah they are a bit heavier, that won't be for long. I expect times to continue dropping like crazy for the next few years.

Sad but true. Heavier but the weight is about 10cms off the ground. And it sounds like my kids remote controlled car.

Love this video so much I bought it. I also bought a Peugeot 405 MI16 and could not wait for Mrs Lin to say we were out of milk. That car was just pure fun.

Yup, Climb Dance was/is sensational and I too had to buy a copy back in the day. It's still awesome viewing.

These days, what would you do if you a had a shitload of sponsorship, a ton of talent, and a hankering for some Pikes Peak fun? I'd do something very much like this I reckon:

Edit: a big thanks to Ken Block for reading my mind.
