But yeah, basic human decency shouldn't be a "thing"

Possibly should be in the Good things in life thread but I'll put it here....

I came home from the shops yesterday and said "Wow, some old lady went arse over tit in the carpark"

11 year old son replies "You better have helped her up!" (I did)

Cynical inhumane behaviour shits me and I really just don't get vindictiveness. I celebrate the better things we have.

There is a difference between general basic good moral nature in helping an old lady up that you have seen fall or offering your coat to someone you're with when its raining to giving two hoots about about some anonymous that has not had any influence in my life or the society I live in.
Might sound outrageous to you, but I feel the same about actors/celebs/musos unless what they've done has enriched my life in some way.

Some feel different. But I guess I'm strange?

Every book you read, every piece of music you enjoy, every TV show or movie you watch was written by, inspired by, affected by some "anonymous" - that is the world.

I'm not "holier" than anyone, I'm a simple, flawed, piece of flesh expressing my opinion.

Why are YOU so enraged by that?

Seriously (and this has happened), anyone who threatens my life or that of my family - different rules (ie NONE)

I genuinely don't get this bloodlust for death as a real world solution to a relatively minor crime. It's emotional validation ruling over effective action.
Just where do you get off on justifying yourself in going John Rambo on someone just because they threatened your family? I mean, they are 1 in 7.5 billion. Hardly a major crime. Besides, would beating them senseless change anything? I just don't get this bloodthirsty response. It's like your emotions are getting the better of logic.

Yeah, you got me there sunshine - I guess it would be called "heat of the moment" rather than a considered online discussion. But yeah, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry

I don't do angry often, even when people try to kill me, I have standards

So reacting in the moment is ok, but rejoicing after the fact is not?

You have a very strange rationale...

4 out of 5 times i speed somewhere, there will be a camera that catches me. I get caught, i get fined. I pay the fine. nobody has any sympathy for my "crime", but hey, i did the "crime" i pay the fine and take on the consequences. if someone steals from me... would they have the same sort of consequences befitting their "crime" against "me"?

Someone steals my bike. Nobody has any empathy for the bike thief. Same deal. i wouldn't go so far as to wish them dead but i cannot feel sorry for any thief, more so a thief that steals from me. Personally i wouldn't celebrate if a thief died, but excuse me if i sound like an c*nt, the world has enough problems and one less waste of space and oxygen isn't such a bad thing?

i guess why people celebrate when thieves get seriously injured or die, is that if they were caught by the police.. justice is weak and usually get a slap on the wrist. I don't mean chop off their hands when caught for stealing but really a small fine, a few weeks jail and a slap on the wrist is sometimes laughable as a penalty.

Usually read a suspended jail sentence or community service for stealing thats even if the police bother to prosecute.

Even severe cases like the repeat drink driver/disqualified driver who argued when driving well drunk he killed a child that even a sober person would have it her. He won the case and walked scott free.

And also we keep giving money to dumb cunts suing doesn't help either.

They get paid in jail and have 3 meals that are probably better than they would get at home.

Maybe if Jail was a DETERENT .. >>>>> Shit in a bucket, eat bread and water physical labour and have no luxuries like TV, computer games or lollies,

people would think twice about committing crimes and being sent there.

    Its a Joke.

Defiantly that's why there's repeat offenders because it's a holiday camp not a jail. They get treated pretty well I know if I was homeless I would go rob a bank because they have a better life then a homeless person on the street.

Sorry Barfridge, Rich... and GsxInShed, Sprint called the RS250 in the case of my death already.

Now to dispel any thoughts people have about me discussing this from a moral high ground.

I'm the opposite of a bleeding-heart. In an age of stupidity I have a very finite amount of compassion, and I reserve it for those affected by misfortune they haven't contributed to. I believe in Darwinism and see the film "Idiocracy" playing out in real life. I won't donate to prop up the human race, or relieve someone of the consequences of failing to be responsible for themselves.

But I don't take joy in the misfortune of someone else.

I think y'all need some perspective. If a mass-produced CBR Yamasaki is stolen, who cares? Claim the insurance that you'd better have, pay the excess and buy another. Move on. Seriously, I believe in poetic justice. Kim K having her million dollar jewellery stolen after flaunting it across the media? Kinda had it coming but I'm not doing cartwheels. Full Throttle Power Sports break my shit, damage my property and lie in court? I'll use opportunities to make sure they get less business in grim satisfaction.

But I'm not taking joy from these things in between pulling the wings off of flies.

How many of you guys are out there, riding without Income Protection or Trauma insurance (let alone comprehensive vehicle insurance) as million dollar liabilities to your families? Here you are celebrating the death of someone for a poor choice. What do you want people to feel and do when your poor choices catch up with you?
