    1995 CBR1000F - Going cheap - $1500

This was a little project on a bike I got off here. See this: https://www.perthstreetbikes.com/for...d.php?t=176406
Note: It says 20000km odd on it, but this is a replacement dash I think. I understand it is actually around the 100000 mark. Rego papers say 17000 which is also wrong.

I've used this for commuting and general shit since I re-rego'd it and hasn't missed a beat. The carbies have now gone further out of whack though, and now the power drops off about half way through rev range.
I can't find the time or inclination to fix myself - hence I haven't ridden for about a couple months and selling for low price to someone who has more time on their hands than I. But am doing Just did an oil/filter change, cleaned the air filter, re-bled the brakes

    Good:

    • Fairings all repaired, painted by potato. He still has the helmet hooks, I need to hassle him to paint them red
    • New battery
    • Reliable and runs OK with exception of carby issue
    • Brakes work
    • Replaced fork seals, oil, plugs, fluids, muffler packing, and whatever else I pulled apart about 12 months ago
    • Rego'd until May next year
    • Comfortable ride

    The bad:

    • Is Honda
    • Front valve stems need replacing - it leaks enough that you wanna check pressure weekly - 4PSI / week. May as well do both stems anyhow
    • The exhaust has a scrape on it at the weld from previous owner, You need to pay someone $100 to chop it a couple mm, TIG weld it and then you'll spray it again with the high temp paint (rattle can provided)
    • The carbies as mentioned

    The meh:

    • The seat repairs I did were dodgy so I bought a 2nd hand seat. It is fine, but has some leather cracks just due to age. If you want to re-cover it, get someone who knows what they doing, or be that person It was quoted $150 as the foam is fine to reuse. Alternately, get a $50 cover off ebay
    • Tyres are plenty legal (>50%) but are a bit old, so drifts the back end - which may be a good thing, depending on your POV
    • There is a different key for the boot lock vs ignition/tank. Couldn't find a boot lock which matched the key pattern (someone tried to pinch it from prev owner)
    • I've removed the centre stand, because it annoyed me. But it's around somewhere (I think) if you can figure how to re-fit it

note: the side cowls and the engine cover which are missing in pic below are there now, I had to order th

You did a good job on this. It had 110k I think when I sold it to you.

At 100k it was dyno'd and still making 100hp at the rear.

I never look after bikes cosmetically but it always had oil and filter at 5k intervals.

Also had CCT and Cam chain replaced at 90k iirc. It also has a new reg rect.

Considering the work you've done to it 1.5k is a bargain

yeah, prob spent 2 grand + heaps of my labour, it just doesn't get love any more
i'd chuck it on gumtree get 2500 pretty easy if i fixed the carbs.
which are about $200-250 to get someone to do

i fuckin hate gumtree humans though. waiting around, telling me they really wanted a black one, cunts working offshore, blahblah

if doesn't go from here soon will just get MC pitstop to fix it and leave it out front of shop to sell for me. think craig told me $200 selling fee which is pretty good

Good value for a litre bike. The power problem may be as simple as a kinked fuel line. The pickup coils may contribute to the same problem. Hondas also tend to be sensitive to the battery condition.
It's all fun until someone loses a nut.

I just saw your thing about the carbs. They are temperamental if not used. You may find that a pull apart clean and balance will have them sweet.

yep. Jaw it's all back together and running, no improvement on power issue though.
The dropoff at certain rpm was a red herring. The annoying cunt of a thing chokes whenever power is demanded - launching from stop, up hills, etc, almost like fuel line is blocked - cept i checked for kinks n shit. Next step would be rip the tank apart, check fuel tap etc, but if you wanna come suss out then can come to u, or here.. whatever
