My main takeaways from the presser were
Rossi doesn't sound confident of battling for the championship but sounds optimistic about improving after testing.
Vinaeles is confident but not as confident as the press has made him sound during testing.
Marquez was playing his cards close to his chest but couldn't hide his confidence.
Lorenzo sounds optimistic about Qatar but realistic about how much the bike has to improve to be competitive over the rest of the season and knows that he has a lot of work to do.

Apparently theres a chance of rain for Qatar which means the race might be cancelled. Dunlop are flying in wet tyres for the Moto2/3, and while Michelin did bring wets for the GP, the riders have final say on whether or not the race will go ahead as glare from the floodlights is an issue.

He would be a very unpopular lad though (well more than he is already)... he'd have to factor that in. Sand and gineys and all that.
Anyway, fingers crossed for no rain.

Judging from the presser they all seemed quite concerned about racing in the wet. Not just because of the lights but also the sand that's always present at Qatar. A race in the wet could turn into a disaster really. Anything could happen if there isn't good visibility.

I thought I saw/read that someone did testing in the rain and determined that the glare wasn't as big a factor as everyone originally thought?

Why a load of rubbish, has Qatar caught Barbagalloisis? And will now ban bikes too after they figured out they could get hurt?

Loris Capirossi tested on a wet track at night which was just hosed down. The issue is potentially going to be the lights reflecting through falling rain.

He's an FIM Safety Commission representitive, it was to test the reflection of artificial light in the wet, you wouldn't need a GP bike for that.

A wet track and falling rain are two different things. Even spray from the tyres would be dangerous with lights shining in their eyes.

Dont know how many of you have ridden in the rain in the dark however on the occasions that I have car lights have whiteouted my view at times and i have just guessed where the road is. Cant imagine doing it at 200+ kmh.

On another note love the term coined by crashnet this morning

Yes, but the track is top lit - from a long way up.

If Mav can get out front on clear track - he's a good chance for a win.
I'm still not convinced he has the minerals to fight tough for places though.

A great result from Dani for a change - hopefully he can keep on track for the weekend.

Folger - You crazy fkn German. Good to see him so far up the board.

Early days, but I'm getting excited!

I think we are of the same opinion on Mav. A bad start could end his shot at winning. We will see though.

Having the multiscreen thrown in is a nice addition to the videopass this year. I wouldn't pay extra for it like they've wanted previously, but while it's available I won't complain.

It's working a lot smoother than I was expecting on our shitty internet, but Monday will be the real test. I don't have high hopes for it within a few hours of peak times ending.

If Marquez loses the championship this year it'll be solely the fault of HRC. He's done his part and changed his attitude, he's also changed his riding style this weekend, not braking so hard to maintain corner speed. No other rider except Rossi can change their riding style at the drop of a hat to suit the track and bike setup.

The fact Marquez was able to win on the bike he did last year says to me that any failure that he may have is mostly down to HRC with his new approach and I think his testing as proof of the mature approach will be continued. To everyone with a brain it was the most impressive title since Stoner managed to win on the Duc. Given Rossis complaints of the current tyre I expect a new 'improved' front tyre at some point during the year which will help him use his heavy braking style.
