    Liability/responsibility as a shadow

I'm coming up on my 4 years holding an RE license so will be eligible to shadow but just have a question.

Can a shadow be held legally liable/responsible for anything done by the rider he/she is shadowing?

I know how expensive an instructor's time can be so I'd like to help new riders get more experience before their test....but most times you won't really know the person you are shadowing

No, not as far as I'm aware. You're there as a supervisor/instructor but they're in control of their vehicle. I think you only have to be under the legal blood alcohol limit and have the same class for 4 years, otherwise everything is on them and their insurance
    Rest in Peace

I once had a learner take off on me for a blast up the road. Found him up the road a bit pulled over by the cops who were standing there with a hairdryer. I pulled up and they asked me if I was with him. I said 'I was...but nothing to do with me now'. I'd just met him a couple hours earlier so I wasn't interested in getting involved.

Yeah the shadow is a supervisor only, not responsible for you. Now if I told you to stick your head into a fire...
