I've been told to make sure everything is up to scratch before going to the engineer because they won't certify it otherwise as they are putting their name to an unroadworthy vehicle.

Looked at the chassis and found that the previous owner did not cut or modify it.

The defect states engineering certificate is needed for single seat conversion.
However if the bike is restored to stock, I am assuming that engineering certificate will not be required ?

Went down there and picked some parts.

Looking for seat now, Osborne Park and Maddington wreckers did not have it.

    Any other recommendations?
    Thanks

You've been fed a shit tonne of crappy advice in this thread and the few pieces of good advice have been drowned out by the shit. PSB has only a few members that do any major mods to their bikes, so most are just guessing.

Take the bike to Brooklands Auto in Wangara and John will be able to tell you from a 5 minute walkaround exactly what you need to do, and the cheapest way to do it. The time you spent in Welshpool (and cost I'm assuming for the inspection) could have been saved by a quick visit to the right people.

The only other place I would trust would be Retro Moto Co in Fremantle, but they aren't licensed inspectors so they can only really give good guidance. The Harley guys may know other good places but personally those are my recommendations and the ones I used.

    Yep, this.

If the frame hasn't been cut or modified then that's good news. It means that you can bolt original stuff back on and get it back to how it was when it left the factory.

Inspections are all about the vehicle being in/having the same specifications as it did when made by the manufacturer.
One owner. Only driven gently on Sundays. Sold to best offer. First to see will buy. Reward offered for safe return. Coming soon to a cinema near you. Available for a limited time only.

My waterbed broke this morning. Oh, I don't have a waterbed. Bugger.

So finally got all the parts from online, overseas, east coast & local wrecking and restored the bike back to original.

The only last thing I did not restore was the airpod filter and naked side cover area.

I was planning to get the inspection done at a private inspection garage.

Was wondering what are the chances of failing the inspection due to this air pod mod?

    Thanks.

Rest of the bike is fine, its been restored to look like stock. The yellow sticker was mostly for cosmetic things not for the engine , brakes etc.

The sticker is only for what the cop picked up on.

Pit inspection is still going to go over the entire bike with a fine tooth comb, not just what the sticker was for.

This time it will be a reinspection, it already failed once at DOT . The inspector thoroughly inspected it and asked 5 defects to be fixed. Have a printout of list of items that need to be fixed.

So have you fixed those 5 items? If so you should be good to go, if not I don't like your chances

+1 indeed, and maybe try and tuck it up away from view and wet conditions

And then give the whole engine etc a good degrease and clean before you take it back again, thats not expensive at all
I cant help it if your perceptions don't match my reality

    And not use speaker wire.

Depending on your location and timing I can help tidy that up.

Three of them are related to body modification, which are now fixed because I restored bobber back to stock.

Fourth says that they would have to take a test ride.

Fifth is about a leak in the front fork,I was going to post about this.

I could barely see any leak, maybe it's this oil stain and not a leak? It's been there for a while and the stain has not become any bigger.

My plan was to just wipe it clean. Will that work?
Don't won't to spend anymore on fixing this bike.
