    New rider Yellow defect sticker

    Hey guys new rider here
I have a bobbed honda rebel without mudguards , big airpod on the side and brat style tail light & license plate on left side .
Bought it little while ago from a guy who was in the army. I thought the army guy must have done proper DD and bike must be street legit.

Anyway, got stopped by cops , they gave me yellow defect sticker for following 2 -
    - Air intakes needs to comply
    - Tail light needs to comply

    I am little confused .
    a. Does the bike needs to be taken to the inspection center , then get an official list of things that needs to be fixed , get them fixed and then go back for re-inspection? i.e. two inspections

    or

    b. Just fix the items in the defect notice and then get the inspection done to get final clearance ?

    Thank you in advance
    zeno

    Edit : Bike year 1998,
Read somewhere some ADS rules apply after 2003

    B

Do NOT go to a gov-run inspection center! Find a workshop that does bikes.

My personal favorite is Pebco in hamilton hill. They're a bit more chilled out/won't measure your levers with a ruler/etc

Unfortunately none of this stuff is legal.

Try option B first at an independent inspection centre and hopefully they won't pick out the stuff the cop didn't write up on the ticket.

I'm with Keen - try and see to the items on the ticket and then have it inspected. I reckon they might ask you to come back though, so it might be A too.

I took a bike that I'd modified to be a street-illegal racer to Pebco, the place suggested above. They looked at it and said "it looks like new" and passed it without so much as a ride around the block - which was just as well. My mods were a little less visual though.

If you're keen then take to Welshpool pits first and get one of the DOT examiners to have a look at it in the carpark (ie just a visual look, not an inspection).

They'll tell you what you need to do to make it legal.

The pod filter should be easy enough - it's something like $20 for a permit.

The mudguard and tail light is going to be a problem. The rear mudguard must extend down to 45 degrees, but that's just a matter of cutting up a bit of plastic and putting it on temporarily.

Take some photos of the bike (particularly the back of it) and post them here. Those of us with experience with vehicle inspections will be able to suggest solutions.

    There's a bit more info here: https://www.perthstreetbikes.com/for...ad.php?t=65259

    What I did one time:

One owner. Only driven gently on Sundays. Sold to best offer. First to see will buy. Reward offered for safe return. Coming soon to a cinema near you. Available for a limited time only.

My waterbed broke this morning. Oh, I don't have a waterbed. Bugger.

IF you have a custom bike, go and see Rogue Motorcycles, they are a custom bike shop and the owner also has an inspection centre business so they will be able to tell you exactly what you need to do, and get that yellow removed.

The number plate must be visible from 45 degrees around the back of the bike, if it's not $1000 and 4 points. Don't take the road cops word for the tail light. They make a 'judgement' call. Tried to sticker one of my bikes until I told them it was stcok and less than a week old. That said, they also get it right, so what everyone said. Take to a registered workshop. Reputable one, otherwise you will end up getting a letter saying take it to a licensing centre because the shop got audited and failed miserably.

Sounds like some guys has done a bodgy job of making a cheap "Bobber". If you go for option B I think you'll end up being given option A.

You best bet is to return the whole bike to as close to completely stock BEFORE you present for any inspection, that will help reduce the big list they're probably going to give you.

Can you post up a pic of your bike as we might be able to spot a few potential problems for you, before you waste money on an inspection that you will most likely fail.

    I've heard of them.
Will there be a potential conflict of interest ?
