And quite correct you are - this is a problem with the RSC web-site, it's not clear or concise.

However, if you look at the heading for that section, it states "Freeway Merging Rules."

    Edit:
Further to that, it's also unclear on the Main Roads website as well, where it states:
    New merging rules

Here's how the new rules work.

    1. Get up to speed and indicate.

Once you've got up to speed with freeway traffic, indicate and merge into the next lane – just like when you are changing lanes.

    2. Merge earlier.

Don't leave it to the last minute – be sure to merge right as soon as you're at speed and it is safe.

    3. Let people in.

Drivers on the freeway should have a gap to let new traffic from the merge lane in or move right to make more room.
As a concerned citizen (ahem...) I've submitted a feedback form highlighting this.

I don't want you to educate them.

Instead of telling us about it, get a dash cam and show us video footage. Dash cam owners Australia never fails to deliver

And sorry chew, I laughed the entire time. In fact, so much the Coppers told me to enjoy my drive to Headland and I didn't have to waste anymore of my time.
He thought he knew the rules so well he didn't need insurance.
Not only did he loose his car, he still paying off the new Bullbar I got fitted to the Mack.

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

And look at my Bullbar! Totally destroyed the fucking thing.

    [IMG][/IMG]

And to think all those witnesses that stopped for the poor soul who were determined to see my Arse fried
Didn't understand the road rules either.
We have his and the others calls recorded and play them back while we drink beers in the office.
He is in tears as he had no Insurance and we are supposed to feel sorry for him.
    Na! Never happen.
I did you a favour chew. I make the roads safer, 1 or 3 cages at a time.
    Don't be sorry. its O.K.

Red "P" plater learnt a hard lesson.

    1) "Nobody" leaves a safe gap for stopping else merging would be smoother/easier.
    2) Truck drivers never slow down when approaching intersections as they are instructed when they get their licence.

Watched a sheep carrier blow a red three seconds after it had changed two weeks ago on Roe.

    Nobody?
Gee. This guy had 700m of clear lane in front of me and another 500m behind me.
    Nobody huh?

    Gosh. A sheep carrier huh?
I have got to admit I have never ever ever seen a car run a red in my life.
    I'm absolutely astonished.

Tip #26 when sharing the road with heavy vehicles chew.
"Look left and right before passing through an intersection some fuck might not stop."
Just like you were taught when you got your license.
Even your instructor knew that Sheep carrier was going to run the red.
You should have been paying attention.
He/She must have been a clairvoyant.

    Another tip for ya chew.
Old timers like myself don't put a foot near the brake if someone pulls out in front of us. We don't even try to avoid them.
For our lot in life it is better legally and Insurance wise to nail them.
Applying the brake leaves tell tale signs on the road and on the ECU.
They can be used against you.
Flatten the fuckers is the only way to go.
Applying the brake and avoiding usually results in at least two tyres flat spotted.
Why should myself or the company wear that expense when the cager drives off mostly oblivious.
Na. Flatten them. Their Insurance or themselves pays for a new Bullbar because a scratch is damaged and can't be repaired and he'll, if you flat spotted a dozen tyres a week before when a bull stepped out in front of you, you get those as well.
Just sucks to be them. Huh?
Ya gotta love the Truck Haters.
They are my favourite to hit.
    I'll chase those fuckers down.

Refer to previous tips. Ie. The biggest wins.

Are truck drivers not instructed to reduce speed when approaching intersections with traffic lights or was that just when I got my truck licence?

I was in the right hand turning lane pointing the same direction and he was in the left lane, I did know he was gonna do it because it is such a common occurrence with trucks.

Besides there has not been a truckie born who could get me on the road.

Mind you a bloke on a green kwaka once tried to put me into the kerb but I acquitted myself well and avoided a crash.

    He didn't indicate either

    No. Be cautious.
Just the same as a light vehicle.
They put 80kph speed limit and flashing lights up for everyone. Great help in a truck and specially a train.

Fuck. You have spent most of your life bitching how they hold you up.
Now you want them to slow down before an intersection.

    - - - Updated - - -

    You have a truck license?
How many trailers can you reverse into park bays without unhooking and putting them in single?

I'm sure a man of your experience in the Transport Industry could throw 7 or 8 around no problem at eh Cobbro?
Must have been really hard for you to lower yourself to get a truck drivers license being such a intelligent Cunt eh?
Bet ya didn't tell ya Mates.

    Really?
Were you on that Harley turning off the Kenwich Link.
There are to right turning lanes. Not my problem your bucke needs two lanes to do a good ne lane turn.
Your bucket ran out of puff when I got serious.

    It's a bit of a gimmick imho.

Sure I had a play with them on my new Honda VFR. quiet back street and I had to bite my thumb to prevent my years of inbred habit of turning off the indicators to let the self cancelling do it instead. At least the Honda OEm system seems to work ok.
I guess for that 1 in a thousand times you actually forget and it switches them off, it's good but seriously, I wouldn't go buying an aftermarket thingy to do it.

    No more than 4.
The cab going one way the trailers another.
It always confuses me which indicator to use.
If only there was some way of indicating both ways at once, and preferably self cancelling after parking.

I cannot recall bitching how they hold me up? I did have a giggle once when two low loaders were stopped next to each other near Badgingarra once. One in each lane, effectively forcing all traffic to use the shoulders with a very angry Policeman talking to them.

I only really got it to improve my employment chances and to test drive the dump trucks and other vehicles on mines after I repaired the A/C's because no A/C meant the poor petals couldn't work.

Harley? Was it exploding? That's what they usually do when I ride them. But no never owned one, too much like a truck. Attitude and superiority complex endorsement required on the licence.

No it was on a FNR once upon a time in the past.

I see you have difficulty distinguishing between Mining and Transport.
Transport doesn't stop because the air conditioning stops.

How about the post about trucks side by side on the freeway?
Not sure if it was yours originally, but you were bitching.

It seems you have one life experience and make out it is a daily occurrence.

Tell me more about the FNR.
    I'm intrigued.
I can't remember it. Jog my memory.
