Rider Down - Railway Parade Subi

Between Abbotsford Street and Southport Street.

Red bike but I couldn't see much, and wasn't really looking as it's a good way to run into another rubber necker. Reviewing the vid though tells me that it looks like they were probably heading east and got cleaned up by a car turning right into one of the premises. They weren't lying far from the front of the car, and the bike was under the bumper, so fingers crossed it was a relatively low speed impact and they'll be OK.

Cue report on how "speed may have been a factor" and the "bike hit the car turning right"...
"Speed Kills". The stupid person's answer to a complex problem.

Friend of a friend (i.e. random FB person!!) who is a nurse was first on scene. Sounds like just a couple of broke bones. I saw it on facebook so it must be correct.

I helped out with her Bike, as the coppers had no fucking idea.
She looked Ok maybe a # collerbone.
Bike was a 659 monster, looked OK too.

Looked like she was filtering between the footpath and the cars when a car pulled into a driveway eg her.
Bad move to be filtering on the left always filter on the right or between 2 lanes of traffic. Tip for new riders there.

^ I almost got cleaned up on that road about a year ago when someone pulled out of a driveway on the same side as me... was just going with the flow of traffic (not position related). Rear broke traction under hard braking and kinda slid to a stop. Felt very much like it happened in slow motion.

Bit like hi-vis vests, if they aren't looking position means squat.

Very true. I've had drivers make eye contact and still pull out. Sometimes your screwed it's either speed up or emergency stop. It's hard on a road like that with limited escape options
