We all get attached to our bikes Gixxer, but think your in a win win situation.

You will/should end up getting more than its worth and end up with an opportunity to upgrade.

Something with a hell of a lot less K's on it as well.

Is it fixable tho ?? And is it yellow stickerable like it is ?
If they lowball me on dollars id rather keep the bike and fix what i can.... its worth to me as a daily ride than a bank cheque

So how much to respray a fuel tank ??
Looks like a shit money offer coming my way as a write off so going to try and get money out of his insurance to fix bits !
Its classed as one dent so it can be a repairable write off.

that dent baffles me, you would think thick frame alloy would be impossible to dent. flaw in suzuki frame design perhaps.. few less mm to save weight

i would of imagined it would crack & split before denting.. something new everyday

Full weight of the bike on the corner of cement curb....
The fairing didnt even hit the ground so the frame took the full hit.

An offer is just that, an offer. It's always subject to negotiation.

f you can prove to the other parties insurance (AAMI I assume) that you can't replace your bike of one in equivalent condition then they will need to do better.

Be loud and annoying to them. Call every day, demand to speak to managers, write down every time you speak to them. If you put in the groundwork they will increase their offer.

A coke can doesn't crack and split when you crush it, nor does aluminium patio tubing. However once it has enough stress raisers it will start to tear.

In this case you have a large (presumably) 'C' section of alloy. Have you seen the latest Road bicycles? Massive sections, really thin walls. Exceptionally light and rigid, exactly the way this Suzuki frame is designed to be. Neither are designed to be struck by a sledgehammer to their side.

^^ This. See how much you can get out of them while insisting you keep the salvage (damaged bike). Be firm, be polite, provide evidence, ask to speak to the team leader if you don't get satisfaction after a few calls, state that you want to take it through their ICR (Internal Claims Resolution) channel after that, then the Ombudsman. See how you go

As for repairing the frame, nick down to see Clyde Carstairs at Bravo Resources in O'Connor. What that guy can do with aluminium is renowned nationally - he did the bracing on my GSXR frame.

I emailed aami the quote today.... $8500 !

I'll argue like hell to get good money out of them.... From what ive been told they cant take my bike even if its written off so im going to try and get as much as i can towards repairs without it being written off just so i dont have the hassel of re regoing it.
The only 02 model i can find for sale is 4200 and theres an 01 for 3500...
    Let the games begin !

If your not worried about riding around on dented frame a tank with a scratch doesn't need to be resprayed.

I doubt they will check kms just give you a market price for 02 gsxr.

It'll almost certainly be a write off. The bike is worth what 4000-4500?

The other parties insurer can't take your bike, it's not theirs.

When I worked in assessing there were generally 2 options for this scenario, they'll offer you a pre accident value minus estimated salvage and you keep the bike, or you get a payout (again pre accident value) and they get the bike.

Shaun is right in that you don't need to accept their offer straight up for any of the above, it can be disputed and we saw it all the time.
It'll usually fall back on current advertisements or one of the valuation guides.
Sometimes they'll get an independent valuation done.

Honestly it's a buyers market out there, being a daily if you can get a good payout walk away from it and get something else. If you had the time and could do a frame swap yourself with a second hand frame you may come out ahead.

    Qbe looked at the kms....
But when aami come for a look my keys is lost ! :-P

Not fussed on the frame... That can be covered. I'll get the tank fixed at potato's tho as its got other paint damage already on it and ive been wanting to fix it for years :-)

Value should be 3500-4500 to buy another one.

Am looking at the moulded carbon frame protectors...
They just stick on with a bit of silicone and theyre solid so should hide the dent quite well :-)

I would get someone to look if it is structural. The 05-06 GSXR1000 had a recall for the frame cracking in half under stress and that's from a undented frame. The last thing you need is for your frame to fold like an accordion under hard braking.
If you love your motorcycle, set it free. If it comes back, you probably high-sided.

Note that if you accept an insurance payment the vehicle is likely to be declared on the Written Off Vehicle Record. This will affect your ability to obtain insurance for the vehicle and possibly even ride it without submitting it to the pits for inspection.
