I can remember listening to the Police mechanics having a whinge when the local coppers had Harleys for a while. What was the cruisiest job in the world had a blip when the Guzzis were around and then turned to utter chaos when the H.D.'s arrived. They were farming them out for repairs it was that bad.

didn't some bean counter decide to get the hd's as they'd have a better resale value? wonder how that worked out for them

Rumour had it that the dealer that sold them made a killing as they were a set price and unlike most cop bikes back then the frames were not painted white to get them back on the street cheaper.

They made a profit on the Perth ones.

They were bought new for $7,000 each.

When they were sold at auction the first few went for $9,000 each. The next lot went for $11,000 each and then once word go out they were selling for $14,000 each.
One owner. Only driven gently on Sundays. Sold to best offer. First to see will buy. Reward offered for safe return. Coming soon to a cinema near you. Available for a limited time only.

My waterbed broke this morning. Oh, I don't have a waterbed. Bugger.

Rumour has it that the riders couldn't grasp the concept of the bikes being warmed up before use.
The only thing wrong with a perfect ride to work is that you end up at work.

Under the original contract the govt paid $7,000 per Harley, and the supplier was going to buy them back at $5,000 each at the end of the contract and resell them all in Japan.

Hence, everyone got away with those particular bikes not having ADR compliance plates.

However, the contract was later negated when the cops started testing some other bikes. There was something in the contract forbidding this.

That's not what I meant. Did HD got their shit together and fixed the issues LAPD found, such as the routing of the brake lines?

I used to hear the radio from riders and it was a regular occurrence to come and pick up a Harley.

Is this why Harley Riders are the only ones in Caravan Parks that have to fire up early and leave them running for ages? Other riders just fire up and ride off without disturbance. Yes I have travelled around Australia with
