Yeh going to try as soon as I get back home. It's over 12 months old thought so I'll have to bust out puppy dog eyes.

Motobatt are a bloody joke. A battery should easily last 4 years.

Looking at these SSB Lithium ultralights...

My bike takes a YTX9-BS and the replacement here would be the LFP9-BS @$147, but the one linked earlier LFPZ10-S is $174 and has 60cca more and is like 12mm shorter... I'd be fine to use it right or is that overkill? my understanding is the starter will only draw what it wants so it's not like the extra would fry it... thoughts? I generally like to put things rated higher than what they need when it comes time to replacing bits, and my battery atm is shite.

Yeah, no problem Mike. As long as the terminals are in the same position.

I've just ordered a Shorai lithium iron from the US for my enduro bike. These batteries can go unused for months and still not require a charge.

I have bought 2 of the SSB Lithium replacement for the YTX9-BS for both of my Daytonas, and they're fucking awesome. Way easier to get in and out of the bike and I didn't have any issues in the ~12 months I had one. Goodchild in Jandakot is where I buy mine from, and the ladies there are super helpful and I've never had a bad experience. Worst thing is the price, but I justified it as I was only getting about 18 months worth of daily riding out of my Yuasa Pb-Acid batteries. You're right about the starters not over-drawing, I just liked the higher CCA as the Triumphs have more issues around voltage than most Jap bikes so it was a bit of an insurance policy. Your Z (assuming it's going in that) probably wont do that, but it's still nice to have more than not enough juice in the battery

Then I guess the real question is do I get the 180cca one or the 240cca one in the name of having more juice than I need haha.

Go the one that is slightly higher. Waste of money otherwise (they're fucking expensive)

I'm inclined to agree given the current is 135cca and when new (and fresh off the ctek) starts the bike just fine.

the one I bought was maybe 20 cca higher, but the battery itself was about 3/4 the size. I could get one the same physical size but the cca was a lot higher. Will follow the same mantra in future and get the direct replacement of smaller size and slightly higher cca

Their quality control is appalling. For every good one, there's equally as many shit ones.
