Tim it's looking like the future of bike racing at Barbagallo is over, and the answer is to go somewhere else.
However the next Titanic rearrangement of deck chairs could possibly be a success.
The only thing wrong with a perfect ride to work is that you end up at work.

I couldn't make sense of the diagram (the esses orientation was wrong) until I turned it upside down, so Turn 4 (labelled) was at the top of the page, not the bottom as it appears. The additional track is on the infield so it is heading away from the wall, but your point about adding a braking zone and highside zone is very valid.

Looks like a good solution to the wall issue at turn 3...

It even means Barbs will now have 2 left handers and adds an element that will require skills to get through quickly...

?? MA have already committed to issuing permits when the work is done and inspected, race dates are allocated for 2019 season... no idea where you get your "information" from

Yes, it's the concept drawing, I imagine the final construction drawing is pending excavations and levels, may be slightly different but in essence the same.

Ahh... sorry I had the orientation the wrong way, looking at it on the phone vs the laptop it is on the infield. Derped hard there.

Cool, so that would alleviate the wall concern that some have.

No it isn't valid, turn 7 is more of a Risk to highside and most corners at collie are more risk of highside. Not sure why people are so negative if the Work goes ahead then that's a good thing for racing in WA and it's a good thing for ride days too because there are now 2 track layouts. And if other tracks get constructed even better.

I guess you will be selling your race bike then? Oh that's right you don't race! Trolling is much more fun and safer too.

Oh, that old chestnut again! Why does someone need to race to have an opinion about it? Or do you think yours is the only valid opinion because you're an A grade racer?

I regularly ride my bikes at Collie and with Keysbrook on the horizon, I don't see myself selling them anytime in the near future.

I'm extremely passionate about motorcycle racing and nothing pisses me off more than people talking shit, the racing community has suffered over the past few years there has been so much bullshit talked so much disunity and WAY too many opinions suddenly there appears to be a solution so we can get back to what we love, racing motorcycle's and still people talk shit! Making negative comments about something that doesn't affect you and has nothing to do with you makes him a troll. Racing looks like it is back with two tracks and possibly more on the horizon, why The fuck are so many people still so negative? BTW his comments were not opinion

I think MA are a fuck up and don't give a shit about WA. MWA seems to be better now under the new CEO time will tell. I think if track action wasn't on the scene MA would still be sitting on their arse doing nothing.

That’s one of the big things I see wrong with the situation of the track.

All this name calling, fighting, abuse whatever people want to call it has split the community that used to be joined together.

The real reason for this mess is that the people that were suppose to look after the best interests of all the motorcycling community are the ones that fucked it and couldn’t give a shit about the members and people who pay to watch motorcycle events. MA and MWA should be ashamed of themselves.

OK, so we have 2 independent professional reports that identified a number of turns with serious problems and lack of runoff for the speeds done.
In order to get the license renewed, WASCC promised to fix the problem when they reseal the track.
Extremely cheap option to just make a small wider section at turn 3 that can be used as a chicane.
What about turn 7? What about the other issues identified?
MA and MWA are not just sitting on their hands, they can't progress because the track must comply with minimal distances etc in order to approve an event.
Racers has just put up a few plastic bags full of plastic containers (not the normal airbags others use) and passed all responsibility and liability onto the rider, but I honestly don't think that can stand up in court if it is challenged.
Surely more needs to be done to the track to comply with the safety requirements? If not, it would have been far easier to simply put in some cones and make an even tighter chicane when it first closed. Thats how they get around using car tracks for bike ride days in NZ, but I don't think it is enough to comply with racing requirements that have established safety rules.
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: "Wahoo!! What a ride!"
