So if Pedrosa retires [ seems increasingly likely ] I think he might be a good fit for the upcoming E-moto series in 2019.

Experienced "marquee" rider, shorter races I believe too, could bring a lot of cred to the new format as well, gets to hang around the track/buddies, promo duties blah blah, just a thought.

He's too small to push the 'leccy bike around.
    They're heavy.

I think he might retire pretty soon.

At least he has the potential to get podiums on the Honda.
    Satellite team...?
I'm not sure he'll be happy to settle for a smaller team and bank balance, rolling out the rest of his career getting bored.

Speedweek is claiming Pedrosa is gonna announce his retirement:

    source: http://www.speedweek.com/motogp/news...ene-Sache.html

    Google Translated to English transcript:

Dani Pedrosa: The resignation is a done deal
32-year-old Spaniard Dani Pedrosa will announce his retirement at the Catalunya GP next week. There is no free space in a factory team, at Repsol-Honda he has to make room for Lorenzo. Dani Pedrosa will compete in his 296th and final Grand Prix on November 18th in Valencia.

Only one day after his sacking at HRC, it is becoming apparent that the 32-year-old veteran, who celebrated his GP debut in Japan in the class up to 125 cc on the Movistar Honda in 2001, finished in the first year in the World Championship eighth (with 100 points), will resign after this season.

Although Pedrosa has sometimes negotiated with Suzuki in the past and was two years ago as successor to Lorenzo at Movistar Yamaha in conversation, but he has always remained true to Honda.

For the first time he spoke of the possibility of a resignation six years ago when Casey Stoner clearly outshined him in the Repsol team.

But then HRC brought Moto2 World Champion Marc Márquez to the factory team for 2013, with Pedrosa earning chances to reach the No. 1 position.

But Márquez won the World Cup title as a rookie. And while Márquez has scored 38 MotoGP victories over the last five and a half years, securing four world titles, Dani only managed nine more victories in that period.

At the age of 32, Dani Pedrosa does not want to do any other new team, especially as the places in the MotoGP factory teams, with the exception of Aprilia, are now all occupied.

HRC, Repsol and Honda canceled all Pedrosa PR dates and interview dates by next Thursday.

The three-time World Champion and 54-time GP winner (with 205 starts in the MotoGP class) will announce his resignation at the end of the season on Thursday, June 14, at the Circuit Barcelona-Catalunya near his hometown of Sabadell.

Pedrosa has contested all his races on Honda motorcycles.

He is expected to remain the world's largest manufacturer as well as Repsol as ambassador and talent scout. The Dorna could also offer the popular Spaniard a task - as happened with Franco Uncini, Loris Capirossi and Alberto Puig.

KTM and Suzuki missed a big opportunity with Pedrosa. There’s no question he can push forward bike development. The experience and level headedness he could bring to a team with a young rookie would be invaluable.

    They didn't "miss" anything though.

    He wasn't available.

I don't think Dani thought his seat was in jeopardy, nor did Honda let on.
By the time he was on the market - there was nowhere to go.

He hadnt re-signed with Honda which meant other teams were free to make him an offer though. Until youve got a new contract, youre effectively on the market.

Of course he was available. As Prefectionist said, when the other factories were working on their lineups, Pedrosa didn't have a contract for 2019/2020 (and still doesn't).

The fact they signed Marquez so early, and not him, he must have had an inkling it wasn't guaranteed. I said this from the moment Alberto Puig took over from Suppo and Nakamoto San retired (long before Wilson ever talked about it).

    Oh come on man.
    There's available and there's available.

Marquez is FAR more important to lock in early.
    Ask Lorenzo.
    He's fkn lucky!

Not signing Dani early didn't 'necessarily' mean he was going to lose his seat - or was available.
Technically yes. Obviously if you haven't signed - you're approachable.

How many years has he been signed late?
It can't be that abnormal can it?

However it happened for Pedrosa, he has certainly handled it with his usual style and grace, no petulance or sour grapes, just "thanks for the opportunity and I have had a good time".

    Class act.

Everything I read on PSB suggests that the best way to have a bike combust, is to make sure it's a Ducati.

can you give "over and over" examples since he has previously only ridden for yamaha?

But I understand why Ducati didn't make any alterations JL asked for, since the prick is on big money, he should buy his own gaffa tape and stick it on the bike!

Ducati really puzzle me.I bet the new tank cost less than 25K..and would have cost 25K at the beginning of the last season.

I just didnt see it coming, due to the Puig/Pedro mentor/protege relationship during the 00's. I thought that would count towards keeping him around.

I've read since Pedro dropped Puig their relationship hasn't been good and Puig has held a grudge. Some people felt that Puig was going to get rid of Pedro as soon as he could.

Yeah obviously, just funny how years of a good relationship just go out the window (and obviously again, these things happen)

I mean lettuce beef honest, how many contract cycles has PSB been predicting Pedrosa will get dropped? From about 2014? In 2016 when he hurt himself going into the fly aways the hot rumour was he was going to retire and Crutchlow would take his place.

I think a lot of people have a soft spot for Dani (me included), mainly because of the bad luck he's endured with injury and strong championship winning team mates.

Championship or no championship, he will be forever remembered as one of the greatest the sport has ever seen.

Dani, greatest rider since Randy Mamola.

Just lacked that psychosis that pushes some the extra distance.
