Interesting decision, [ although not unexpected ] I would have thought some more "experience" might have been the call here. Or at least have say, Pedrosa, as the test/development guy.

They're all looking [ or gambling ] for the next Marquez aren't they? Only I'm not so sure there's that many of them sprinkled around.....

its probably just economics, Suzuki ** probably ** dont have anywhere near the budget Honda, Ducati and Yamaha has, so they cant afford to get a big name rider, or maybe they could and only have one rider, they can afford 2 inexperienced riders and have a good do. Its good to see their long term commitment.

It definitely worked with Vinales but then he got lured away, probably, a year or 2 early for his good and Suzuki's

maybe the moto2 riding style promotes the fast corner speed bike better before they learn to park and shoot
I cant help it if your perceptions don't match my reality

Everyone is pretty much sorted now.

Pretty much certain that MarcVDS will drop Thomas Luthi. Will they sign Marquez Jr in his place?

No one gives a shit who rides for Ángel Nieto Team or Avinitia...unless of course Sepang International Circuit and Petronas are still looking to back a team.

Will anyone take on the Satellite Yamahas as a seat warmer until Sky VR46 wants to enter?

I highly doubt Honda will drop Nakagami from LCR...Japanese rider on a Japanese bike nd all that.

Wonder how solid the MIR contract is. Suzuki spent 2 ? years developing a rider and then down swoop...….[ insert brand ]

And Rea signs on with KRT for 2 more years, ending pointless discussion about him and MotoGP.

Those aren’t pointless discussions. They’re “I might leave you (but not really) how much extra are you willing to pay to keep me?” discussions

I sort of meant there was some talk that he "deserved" a shot a MotoGP [ rightly or wrongly ] but I don't think anyone talent scouting for MotoGP looks to the WSB as a place to pick up riders, again right/wrong.

Some may go the other way I guess [ Redding/Smith, actually there is probably quite a list of ex MotoGP riders looking for a gig ]

Except James Toesland, James Ellison, Nori Haga, Eugene Laverty, Colin Edwards, Michael van der Mark, motogp race winners Troy Bayliss, Ben Spies, Cal Crutchlow, and motogp world champion Nicky Hayden. That’s just WSBK directly into motogp and just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

    Recently....?

I think these days they are looking for progression through the "ranks" on "purebred machines" from Redbull Cup - Moto3 - Moto2 - MotoGP.
But I take your point about days gone by.

    Jonas Folger news...kind of

Latest interview with Herve Ponchoral from Tech3. Sounds like Folger's career is over.

But speaking just before the Syahrin announcement, Poncharal explained that - like just about everyone else - he isn't even able to contact Folger, who left the team in turmoil when he quit just before the start of testing in January.

"I don't know what Folger is doing. The only thing I know is, he is uncontactable," Poncharal said. "Nobody can reach him.

"There were people at Milwaukee (WSBK) when Eugene Laverty was injured who tried to call him and when Schrotter had a problem they tried to reach him… Everybody who tried to get contact him, impossible. So he has no interest at the moment to reply.

"I like Jonas Folger a lot and I have a lot of respect for his talent. A lot. Because I took him against 90% of the paddock saying, 'you are stupid, you shouldn't'. I did. It was quite successful, but in the end it didn’t work…

"So I don't know about Folger. I'm not going to sign him because, firstly he has never been in contact with me, and also I don’t think he ever showed any desire [to return] - through any media or any friends.

"He could have come and said hello. Even our sponsor Motul Germany wanted to invite him to the Sachsenring as an ambassador and do things with him. He never managed to get back to them. He doesn't reply. This is the situation.

"If he ever wants to come back here I'd be happy to talk to him. But I'm not going to sign him.

"Who is going to take the risk? Because we know his level. The level is unbelievably good. But when you take the risk that maybe after one, two, three, four races he is out… what do you do. It's not easy to replace a rider."
