Bit sad, but the economics in this day and age don't look good for the track or the Motogp.

Well its obviously a conspiracy formulated by Valentino Rossi to prevent Marquez from getting so many points per season by removing any track Marc can beat him at.

Have any of the PSB MotoGP crew been to Valencia? Looking at going this year as it’s not long after I’m in Sri Lanka so could fly straight to Spain.

There’s a few grandstands with tickets still available. Any tips?

MotoGP let the cat out of the bag a bit early with a quote from Freddy Spencer I think, saying “he had a good career”.

    What’s next?

Sorry to see Pedrosa go. He finally announced it after all the speculation and will finish this year after 18 yrs in the game.
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: "Wahoo!! What a ride!"

If you hire a car, you'll be right. If you're relying on public transport and the coaches that leave the CBD to the Island no fucking chance. If you leave Melbourne Airport about 6am you should get there in time for the Moto3 warmup which starts at 8:40am.

The race is 2hrs earlier this year at 2pm as the race used to be at 4pm and the track was cooling rapidly during the race (PI is fucking cold at the best of times).

Race will finish about 3pm, so you could be back at the airport between 7-8pm. Getting off the Island is a PITA as there's only one bridge. I'd book a late flight (after 10pm) just to be safe.

I've done it a few years ago...

Fly to Melbourne, pick up a car at the airport, a few hours later you're on PI. Easy as you like.

If the missus decides to go, we will make a weekend out of it. I just didnt wanna have to pay for a hotel if it was just me. Last flight back to Perth left Melbourne at 11pm, so would have done that. First flight into Melbourne landed 6am Sunday, but with it being 2 hours earlier, and relying on public transport it doesnt seen as feasible as I imagined...

Gonna have to see what I can manage with work. People have booked off the friday/saturday because of Halloween =/

If you wanted to catch the coach to Phillip Island that leaves from Southern Cross Station you'd need to depart Melbourne Airport on the 'Skybus' at 5:52am to make the coach that leaves at 6:45am.

Easiest option is a rental car.

Two questions, do the motogp factory bikes have water heaters in their radiators to have them upto operating temperature so that they can go at full power when they leave there garage and how much do their race leathers cost plus the recharge when they discharge the airbag systems.
    Tp.

Regarding Philip Island, make sure you organise your rental car in advance. There will be none available otherwise.

As others have said its easy to drive down, better still to ride down - as its much easier to get out on bikes.

Unfortunately the closest bike rental to Melbourne Airport is in the CBD and won’t be open at 6am when he needs to leave.

No, they warm their bikes up by running them... just like regular bike owners should do. In really cold areas they used to tape over sections of their radiator, but these days in the age of the four stroke, the struggle is to keep temperatures down. So most bikes the radiator and the airflow through it often takes precedence over a huge range of bike design.

A Dainese D-Air suit can range between $3k-$5k, and i can sure you they are custom tailored to suit the rider and would be closer to the $5k mark if you wanting to have one made for yourself. The top flight riders don't pay a cent to get them repacked and recharged as they often have sponsorship deals and are paid to wear that particular brand of suit. I would hazard a guess that the Rossi family hasn't had to pay for a suit since he was 15.
