Not that Iíve seen. The video on MotoGP.com (which included comments from each of the riders) only showed them all horizontal.

Do Moto Gp bikes have active ABS..?
Or is that just data collection on VR front wheel..?

They definitely don't have ABS. Though they'd be data being sent to the IMU to feed to the ECU.

A little unusual I thought, they must have some confidence that it will take Lorenzo a while to adapt, so he's less of a threat I guess

I find it odd that contracts are based on calendar year, not the season calendar.

The normal 'gentleman's agreement' usually applies for riders changing teams (allowing a test or two)

But they can't promote the new brand or livery till the contract is up

    I'm pretty sure they are.

Negotiations/decisions are made mid-season, but contracts are for the racing season.

Noone swaps teams mid season unless they're sacked due to violating the agreement.

Lorenzo's contract is to the 31st Dec, so calendar year. If it went to the day of the last race there'd be none of this "you may test in 1 out of the 3 tests" etc. It happens every time someone changes camps and must be frustrating for the rider.

Might be related to tax years? ie the MotoGP is run by the FIM started in France and then moved to Switzerland and both of their fiscal years are also the calendar year

    Rossi starting from 14th tomorrow.

Is anyone interested in stepping up to Marquez this season?

I think they're all interested in it but now that the Honda isn't suffering on acceleration in the same way it was in 15-17 nobody on the grid has the talent to take it to him.

Dovi will likely get past Rossi in the next couple of races but the gap is probably way too big for Dovi or Lorenzo to close.

I'm expecting a Ducati 2&3 in the championship this year though, both are closing pretty quickly on Rossi and with the tracks coming up I would favour the Ducati at more of them than Yamaha.

I guess it depends on what the Yamaha bosses see as the problem or whose to blame for the problems they're currently having. His handling of 2015 and then letting Lorenzo get away should've probably been what cost him his job though. Yamaha are already unhappy with how he handled(or didn't handle) Argentina this year.

I think they'll wait until the spec IMU comes in next year to see where they're at. Lin Jarvis started the team, and if you boot Jarvis and also fail, your name will be mud in the paddock.

Jarvis said in a recent interview, fine, get rid of me, but it won't change anything for Yamaha, he's not programming the electronics.

As much as I'd like to see Jarvis gone, because he's weak when it comes to reminding his riders who they work for, I don't think Jarvis will go anywhere until Rossi retires.

I remember reading somewhere that Rossi is pushing to replace Jarvis.

It was a gossip article. I don't think there was anything to it.

I would have thought wet conditions over the last some of the qualifying might have evened stuff out a little, and the Yammies to be a bit better off, but no.

If the crank weight issue is true, are they allowed to access the clutch and make it a tad heavier? Or even a shaft/gear in the g/box [ depleted Uranium anyone? ]. I can remember back in the day adding flywheel weights to a few dirt bikes, made a surprising difference. Or is that part sealed too?

Maybe Rossi/Vinales can stroll down and ask Zarco for a spare engine? Almost serious question....

Yup, understand it doesn't rest solely on Jarvis's shoulders but as is the case where underperformance is involved, a public head usually has to roll.

What you seem to forget is that LJ doesn't actually have final say. As was discussed previously, he didn't want Rossi back and now it is apparent why.

If he had it his way, Lorenzo still would be at the team. Sure Lorenzo and Maverick would have been a good combo.

Rossi is the Alonso of Motogp.
