Marc's probably got at least 4(?) Beemers to contribute to the cause for the most pole positions in a season.

Safety car races should be compulsory when it's wet. Watching them drift it in the dry is fun enough - being a 'safety' car is what makes it hilarious.

Given Beemer have the safety car and also 2x Beemer-cycles on display in front of the grid, when are we going to see them in motogp?

they would have done the sums, if a RC213V is priceless and a BMW generally costs 3 times as much it was not possible for them to get enough capital to produce a bike haha

TLDR: surface is to blame for drainage (or lack there of) as it wasn't this bad in previous years with the same amount of rain. Investigation will take about 6 weeks but the track will need resurfacing. With respect to it being bumpy, Cal had previously tested it, said the surface was fine then F1 cars went on and after that it was bumpy.
But Silverstone are the ones doing the investigation. Theres nothing that could possibly go wrong there.

Someone on the MotoGP subreddit asked who had travelled the furtherest to go to the race, and some poor bloke from Perth had gone. Speaking of the subreddit, I'm glad we have this forum to discuss the MotoGP. That place is damn awful a lot of the time.

Loved the comment someone sent to the commentary team...

Do you think Honda and Yamaha have an advantage given they're the only ones on the grid who make outboard motors.

    Ducati green frames? Remember them?

Apparently the paint for them was flogged from the "outboard" section next door in the factory......

KTM and Aprillia used rotax engines in the past.
Rotax is owned by BRP who in turn own Evinrude and Sea-Doo.
So not far from spray painting shit green either.

If we have similar events happen if MV decide to come back, can we resurrect the joke for them or do they also have some loose connection to some form of jetski =(

MV will need sub arctic temperatures and torrential rain to stop them over heating and catching fire.

The only connection I can think of for MV and water is that itís possibly a sinking ship.

As if MM doesn't pretty much have the championship in the bag already anyway - taking a round of points off the table certainly won't hurt his position.

Especially since he wasn't looking particularly strong this weekend.

I'd say the production of MM voodoo dolls would be some sort of growth industry at this point.
Note: this may not be the universe where the above is relevant.

Interesting history re: the apathy towards safety in earlier times: https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/o...il-wagging-dog

IMO the right decision was made for the riders' safety. Imagine the fallout if someone was seriously injured or worse. Without the benefit of Saturday they probably would have raced but they couldn't turn a blind eye to what happened on Saturday and may happen again on Sunday. Seriously, having to bail out at 200km/hr because track conditions aren't suitable, is shit.

It might sound a little dubious, but during the time that the race was placed on hold, my thoughts were that race control might have spent more time getting legal advice , than monitoring track safety.

Yes, motor racing is dangerous and riders are suspected of needing to 'earn' their money, regardless of the conditions.
However, the precedence had already occurred that the track MIGHT have been unsuitable for wet race conditions since it's re-surfacing.

Had riders voiced their concerns or protests, but were REQUIRED to race, then there MIGHT be case of negligence shown by track officials and FIM / team owners should another serious injury or death occurred during the race.

With the potential loss of income that a long term injury may have caused, any litigious actions might be the start of a big can of worms. [case in point the current AFL compensation cases. ]

For what it's worth, I'd rather MORE safety be added to racing than adding to the risk and am glad the race was cancelled. These are all young riders who already need to swallow their fear each race, but in the wet at 300+ k's/hour is unthinkable to the vast majority of mere humans...
Sventek, being a predominantly lazy fuck can you please purchase some for me, bring me the stuff, create something I want after you think of it for me then clean my house, wash my car, dog, bike breathe for me.

An article from the riders perspective aimed at those bemoaning the cancellation of the race, feeling cheated at not having seen a race and calling riders cowards etc for not taking to the track in abysmal conditions: https://www.motorcyclealliance.com.a...ug-mcclutchin/
