Ex-MotoGP rider West suspended for doping violation

Intentional or not? No idea. Second time. First time appears to have been an accident.

Looking at the picture, it clearly wasn't the weigh loss drug ephedrine like Haga used.

I always had the impression with Dani that he did not have the "Eye of the Tiger" to use an annoying catch phrase.

Walked into a top team, bike was modified to suit his stature and never looked like being at threat of getting the flick.

Becoming a test rider with, hopefully maybe, the occasional wildcard ride may put that "finish at the front or in the scenery" fire in his belly.

Of course the bloke is undeniably talented and has the psychosis that puts these loonies into the top class.

    Talking point...

What would have been the reaction if Fenati had done the same thing to a Spanish rider rather than Manzi, an Italian?

I tell you what, the Italians would be defending him till the cows come home, claiming a Spanish conspiracy to disadvantage Italian riders.

Immediately reminded me of this race.

^ articles about Rossi believing perhaps the engine configuration is possibly the issue rather than electronics:

I have to think if they design a completely new v4 for next season they're going to be worse off in the short term. With limited testing radical changes seem to take a lot longer to get right than they used to.

Second article floats the idea of 1 engine upgrade per season which I don't think is a bad thing. Poor engine choice made in a humid environment cost Marc (and of course many others over time), a championship.

My issue with that is that when the rule affected others there was never even a mention of an upgrade allowed for the engine or the rule being a problem. But once Rossi is affected now sections of the media are saying that the rule needs to be looked at.

Also don't forget the issues that have stopped Yamaha winning in the past year or so seem to change every few months. But factories getting things wrong and suffering could be evidence the rules still represent a good technical challenge and are working.

I wasn't going to go there because there's no point bleating on about Rossi privilege but I'm glad you went there 😃
