[QUOTE=Graelin;3379006]When we buy bikes like handbags on line where will they be serviced? The model we have known is passing. Maybe bike picked up at work and dropped back from a super service centre you never see.

I walked into this shop I'm Melbourne two years ago, not a computer in sight. Loved the atmosphere

I stayed in a hotel in Melbourne around the corner from modak's for a month and seen this bike in the window at another mc shop ,i went to modaks it's like stepping back in time but it is not open all the time.

Ten years ago I was shopping for new motorcycle gear. Motor Cycle Pitstop were the only shop I found that went out of their way to serve me and got my business. Other places South of the river selling mc clothing ignored myself and my brother who had got back into riding. Good service was hard to find.

I hear we have service mechs that come to you now.

Some on here have used 'em

A lot has to do with the industry as well ... used to be easy to be a rider...not so much these days..not so many..

I see people on here selling their bikes/gear walking away from bikes.. I'm not sure....the future is that bright

    Maybe I'm just a pessimist -

A bit more atmosphere in another Melbourne shop.

Bikes outside on the footpath and the world didn't fall off its axis.

Sorry to have to edit it graelin but there are two similar shops i remember that norton i am pretty sure, when you head out to the ice bar in fitzroy the royal enfield dealer is great as well ,melbourne is a old city with old style shops that draw in customer's the only place i think was similar were the shops in maylands in the 70's ,but they have been changed now ,we need to adopt some of melbourne's business model's and bring the public back ,i love the cafe's for motorcycle's in toodyay and dwellingup you need something like that to attract the people back.

I had heard Morley motorcycles was still going but had moved to Malaga...used to be in the little set of buildings on Boag Rd just before the turning onto Boag Pl near Bunnings. He specialised in Old British bikes...bought a few bits and bobs from him when I did my 69 BSA up.

I would think any that are on consignment will be collected by their owners and the rest will be sold off at auction to cover any monies owing. Or another Kawasaki dealer may take them over....maybe they will give them away!!!

can't sell them because they've been opened, like and share then tag 12 friends and comment the colour you want to win.

Well I swore to never go near that place again except to throw in a hand grenade.

Might be tempted to wander in if only to snag a bargain, assuming they let me in the door, they might think I have a hand grenade....

Bad thing is though, the staff will be out looking for job and could end up at other dealerships to continue their hatred of customers.

I'd be surprised if anyone's hiring, especially as we head into the quietest quarter of the year..

Surely winter would be the quietest, you would think end of summer would be the busiest?

you forget that winter is the busiest time for dirt bikers and there is a frigging lot of them, the motorcycle industry doesn't revolve around road bikes

i make a living on everything accept road bikes

Surprisingly the opposite; Jan/Feb is that post-holidays, post-Christmas slump felt across most retail industries, but particularly leisure ones such as motorcycling. It picks up a little in March as the weather cools and we get Easter promotions.

Winter means a lot of dirtbike sales, a lot of end of financial year promos and money being thrown around. Our biggest month (by far) for 2017 was June.

Another shop gone, even if there were problems, it highlights the need for the industry to make a bigger effort in customer service and getting motivated staff.
