    i have alway's brought the best rubber available
    I do have a couple of questions for you para did you find the shinko which i have never heard of to be any good grip / turn in wise as i could have bought one for $169.00 for the front i was told they are reasonable but not as good as the michelins.

    probly havent heard of shinko as they are a racing tyre. being relatively soft compound they wear a bit quicker than most like in summer but in winter you can corner like a GP bike with grip to spare.

    i suggest you try it.

    I had a look the importer for shinko tyres he is in Melbourne seems they bought the moulds from yokohama and started making them in 1998 so i would not have heard of them since i wasn't riding then.

    I spoke to a local dealer who said they are not really a race tyre just reasonable for the money, his advice stick to the well known brands as they are only a little bit more in price

    I am curious about them so i will try a shinko on the rear to see how one goes.

    The other question is are they actually a cheng shin tyre renamed, i fitted a cheng shin tyre when the first came out on to the rear of my Z1R i destroyed it in 1800 kays it was atrocious with no grip at all.
    I did use a set of Shinko 005's back in 07 and while they were OK there wasn't a big enough reason to go with them again IMO
    a) The difference in price was only ~$85 cheaper for the set,
    b) The Shinko did ~13k f/6.5k rear vs ~14k front/10k rear with the Michelin PP front/PR2 rear combo so the reduced mileage made it no cheaper to go with the Shinko's
    c) While the rear grip was OK it wasn't as good as the PR2 when ridden hard leant over even more so when cold as I used to be able to spin them up quite easily leaving work
    d) Wet grip while passable wasn't great compared to the Michelins
    e) The front was much more rounded on the Shinko front (much like the PR2 fronts) so felt very slow to change direction compared to the PP
    f) As it got quite worn I also noticed a slight shimmy under deceleration with no hands on the bars

    Funnily enough when I replaced it looked similar on the sides to yours with the feathering but not the bald strip

    I tried them on the recommendation of a few guys from over east on the OzBB forum who had used them and quite liked them although they mostly used the 003's which were a softer more sports oriented tyre as opposed to the 005's which were more sports touring oriented
    They were also about $150+ cheaper a set over east so much better value compared to the Michelins and I think with different roads lasted longer

    I have no issues with the tyres per se they just aren't as good value as the Michelins on a big heavy powerful bike ridden hard
    On a smaller less powerful bike then I'm sure they'd be fine especially for more normal commuting type riding


    As far as the Cheng Shin's go I'd not use them, I did try them many years ago on my CB750F and they were diabolical compared to the Battleax's I had around the same time, ill handling and like slicks in the wet They may have improved but who knows

    I am finding the power rs to be a very good tyre at least while the weather is still warm it really inspires confidence in fast corners gravel/sand and nuts don't worry it went through plenty of fast corner's like that yesterday gravel won't bring you down it's what you do when you come across it that can.

    My bike will always wheelie and not spin in the wet....

    I have to provoke it with the clutch and get my weight off the rear to induce spin...

    I have never done a rolling stoppie except with a push bike. The road bikes i rode were too heavy, the first rolling stoppie i witnessed was in july 1985 a brand new gsxr750 in flinders street melbourne did one and the road was wet as it was raining he lifted the back about two foot.

    I need to replace my back tyre I have a pilot road 3 on front and rear at the moment front is new
    Looking at road 5 or pilot street
    Will be commuting 100k per day on a bandit 1200
    Mostly on freeway and roe highway
    What you guys reccomend ?

    Para 045 and rich have some good recommendations for heavy bikes read this thread from the start bill, from my recent experience michellin tyres are brilliant but coming from the days of tubed tyres such as the k81and early radial tubeless tyres i feel they would all be good, ask para 045 and rich they seem to know modern day tyres pretty well.

    I have heard good things about the street and the road 5
    Mainly just looking for What 1 is better for commuting and will last the longest?

    The road 5 is supposed to be the replacement for the pilot 4 and apparently is a better tyre, i have had these pilot 4's in some incredibly wet weather and the grip is amazing certainly the best wet weather tyre i have ever tried and the mileage is incredible around 15,000 to 20,000 kays for the front and i am still running the rear, in the 80's on a thousand cc bike we used to only get 3,500-5,000 kay's on the rear and 5,000-7,500 on the front and with no where near as much grip.

    Total motorcycles vic park quote $209.00 for a 120/17 road 5 front and $229.00 for a 120 / 17 power rs.
    A rear power rs 150 / 17 was 279.00 so the road 5 should be cheaper and they charge $30.00 to fit each tyre.
    These are very good prices bill in my view for tyres with this kind of grip they actually rate in the reviews the power rs as being better than the road / track pirellis.
    I am going to fit a road 5 on the rear of my bike.
