I've got a 2013 CBR500 and it's done well by so far and done nearly 6000km on it with it being my first bike. Haven't had any issues with it outside of operator error. I average 3.7L/100km. Can easily get it down to 3.3L/100km. So far I've only replaced the tyres, and air filter due to normal wear and tear.

I had initially thought a naked bike would be more practical, but looking around it looks like the fully faired variant are a lot more available and hence cheaper? There's lots more Ninja 300 than Z300 for example, and CBR500 on special is fair bit cheaper than the CB500?
....So, with that in mind, and with a low budget of $2,500 - $5000 2nd hand, or to $7000 new if I have to, which bike would you choose?

Ninja 300? Z300? CB500, CBR500, Duke 390? Wait for Ninja 400? Anything else I need to look at?
The 300 & 500 are made in Thailand which is fine, they're still reliable bikes and Jap brand quality.

I like torquey engines so I would start with the CBR500.

Agree with what was said earlier....look at a mid size R class bike. Your history shows you prefer upright position so
a Ninja 650 or S650 naked (or Gladius) are worthy contenders...plus these are excellent commuting/ road trip bikes.

Whatever the shortlist is, go Test ride a few and buy 2nd hand...plenty of bargains out there.

There are a few SV650 going cheap out there. I don't know if the seat height would be an issue or not.

'Thyland' sounds like a 'gentlemen's' club in Bangkok where the ladies show off a lot of leg and 'bikes' of a different type are offered for sale (well, rent)...

Would it help if I spell it like this ThuyLand...just pronounce as normal...so it doesn't upset your moderate Christian upbringing...one of the reasons to visit that tropical area is to have a sex slave..is it not..??
