    Gibson files for bankruptcy

It's been obvious for several years that Gibson would go under The CEO is a psychopath who has driven the company into bankruptcy through crazy policies and bizarre management. The quality of instruments have declined so much that even artists who have deals with Gibson have stopped taking instruments from them and have been buying their own used gear. I just hope that Epiphone exist as a separate entity and won't be brought under with them.

Such a shame. The last time I looked at a new Gibson was in 2010 and was dismayed at the build quality / inconsistency compared to their guitars from the 1990s and early 2000s (I have not had the privilege of playing a 50s or 60s Gibson).

I assume and have heard that it's only gotten worse since then.

I've been playing Fenders (and Godins) for years now and if anything have found them to be better than ever.

Sad, 170,000 guitars in 80 countries!!, its not like they are giving them away either, like so many iconic companies its not the core business that brings them down its the other shit they pile in to try and diversify more bleeding the whole business dry with cost cutting at attempts at quick growth.

i actually watched a "how they make stuf" thing on Gibsons yesterday and thought at the time wow they are really slapping those things together these days so much for the top end hand made quality guitar thing

always wanted to own an Epiphone, only ever had long term Fenders and Ibanezezeses
I cant help it if your perceptions don't match my reality

If you drop $2000+ on a guitar you would expect it to be playable out of the box! I've heard of brand new guitars needing $100s worth of work before they will stay in tune & have correct intonation.
I bought an Ibanez 12 string acoustic online 6 months ago, it arrived within a week and was in tune out of the box!

I am seriously considering a 12 string....had an Ibanez 'f' hole for a while and have always liked the brand.

So what are they like to own...currently have a Yamaha A3r TBL limited edition...best part of $1700 with updated machines. Was also considering a classical but dont want three guitars.

This is my one, it's a great guitar, stays in tune, relatively easy to play compared to other 12 string acoustics. I had to file the fret edges as they stuck out a little but apart from that it was a great buy.

I just got back from playing a Seagull 12 string...an amazing guitar easier to play than my 6 string and would have bought it there and then if single.
