I think a lot of people who are just commuters could go down the electric bike path.

Stealth bomber is nuts and can do up to 80km/hr. How hard really is it really for the gov to make a customised rego plate, some led blinkers and lights for electric bikes. Mount and away ya go.

Put out some decent paths and hey presto, less congestion, less smog and get fit. You still peddle while doing jumps and wheelies with ease on your way to work!

By the way when I was at curtin last year I started riding my pushie and would get there in as much time as takin the bus. Curtin has some pretty good lockups for bikes and showers as well. No competition with the motorbike and splitting in regards to time but if I could ride an electric bike at 80km/hr and get a recharge then it would equal out. No more than 70km/hr maximum the whole trip

The auto manufacturers are holding the electric cars back by making them gay as aids in the style and performance front. When they start releasing decent looking cars that out perform the ICE counterparts then the shift will come. Auto makers don't want them because there is not a lot of servicing or repairs needed on them, and as Henry Ford once said "I'd give the cars away for free if you would guarantee me the spare parts trade" now add to that the servicing. It's common knowledge that the workshop is the most profitable part of a dealership

Nice performance, seems similar in power & weight spec to a ZX10R but with much more torque but again the limiting factor is the range, You could possibly make it from Yanchep to Waroona via the Fwy at cruise speed but then you'd have to wait 1/2 an hour before going home
The biggest worry would be if you miscalculate on range you're fucked, can't really run to the servo for a can of volts

If electric ever does properly happen I have no doubt the RAC will just start modifying their cars with either a decent battery/inverter set up or a decent genny.

Id say most who get it wrong will need no more than a half hour burst to get them to where they can charge properly

Uber have just taken the plunge to invest in the Electric Scooter rental market: https://www.smh.com.au/business/comp...10-p4zqj3.html

Certainly for the inner city commutes and even along main public transport routes (train/bus) this seems like it could work.

Appears like a good idea but will it go the same way at the bike share startups have gone in Melb and Syd. They work in other countries but the dickhead/vandal/lazy cunt factor seems higher in Australia.

Proper electric cars can't come soon enough.

If we had em already, the RAC driver training place would still be open.

Race tracks will be able to be close to house dwellings.

And the acceleration of an electric will blow away anything with an ICE engine.

As for Australia.....we may end up fucked if the rest of the world goes electric.

No company is going to go to the effort of supplying just us with petrol.

A good question I would like to know the answer too is how many trucks buses cars planes trains ships and motorbikes are guzzling oil and is there enough lithium to go round to equalise the energy load?
Heavy for a friday I know and my brain hurts but sometimez I start thinking big.

The bike gets a reasonable write up, but the range!!!!!

The future will come no doubt, and probably sooner rather than later, but until then, I can fill my current dirty and ride about 450-500 k's. And refill it without too many drama's either.

Plus fuel [ ethanol/alcohol ] isn't really too hard to make, certainly in quantities to take your combustion engine bike for the odd squirt.....
