Turned out the ECU was knackered some how. So I've replaced that with a $50 one off gumtree, issue now though is it's from the year before and everything runs off. Power dips in and out, revs high etc.
Excuse my ignorance sorry, but if I go to somewhere like Motto Max or another dealer can they 'upload' the right years mapping? I hadn't thought so but was hoping it was possible. $50 is a whole lot cheaper than a $500-600 new ECU.

insure first. then either burn or slide it down the road if it sort of runs.

The ECU huh? Guess that is part of the kill switch circuit.

Best to speak to Ric at MotoMaxx at this stage as they're responsible for bringing this brand to WA.

My guess is that an inexpensive Chinese bike isn't going to have a programmable ignition. And I kinda doubt they changed they changed the ECU from one year to the next. Best to check and see if the part numbers vary from one year to the next.

But I'm thinking there's something else amiss with your electrical system and you should be looking for that too. I'd start with the stator and reg/rectifier.

I can't see how an ecu died on a non ridden bike.

Is it fully efi or does it have carbs? (Carbs could foul if left sitting for ages)

could be a bad earth (but again, can't see how that would have magically created a problem)

The ECU is made by Ducati, so failing while parked is what's expected

In that case you donít need to burn it. It will self combust.
