Have you tried Button for one?

Ok who or what is this button?

I was hoping to deal with someone locally rather than eBay. My choice is limited to a couple of brands due to my bike being old . Bitubo is one of them and seems to have a much better rep than YSS.
I called rogue motorcycles about the yes as they sell them and they said they would call me back with a price the same day.
They never did so now I've decided to spend a bit more for a shock that's actually sprung for weight

Sorry mate - the phone auto corrected "Nitron" to Button... :/

Nitron are amazing to deal with. My GSXR has a rear suspension setup that's part 750 and part 1100. Nitron helped me with the valving decisions as well as the spring rate. I see they list the GPZ900 but not the 550. Do you happen to know how close they are from your research? 'Cause I have no idea. If they can change an existing shock to make it suit, they will.

Maybe speak to Russ at DynoTime in Wangarra. He's a suspension rebuild guy and has good knowledge of old bikes. But if you're buying new, and it's not something that can be bought off-the-shelf or with any value-adding by a local company, then there's not a lot of point going through someone locally just so they can add their markup.

The 1982-83 gpz550 shock uses eyes at both ends while all other 80's GPZ unitracks have a clevis on the bottom of the shock when kawasaki moved the monoshock linkages to the swingarm,
Lengths are the same or +10mm depending on model
I guess if the 900 shocks lower clevis can be changed to an eye it could work if the Stroke is the same.

    looking at nitron now

If you want Bitubo go with eBay/online.

The eBay mob that sell them are Omnia Racing, I have used them countless times in the past. And despite having the massive mental and physical handicap of being Italian they are actually really good!

I'm pretty sure I have put one or two kids through school with how much I have spent there.

Check both their website and eBay and go with the one that is the best deal. Take into account that eBay often has promotional coupons that can make it cheaper. Also bare in mind that if you go not their site, make sure you make an account as that will give you the price without the VAT. They list in Euro or USD so just compare which of the two is cheaper.

I'm looking at a Bitubo for the ZX7R from them and, for this shock, eBay is cheaper by about $50.
Trying to think of a wise and sincere signature quote, but the only words that leap to mind are, "TITTY SPRINKLES"
