    Riddle for all you know it alls!

    Because I am such a daro cunt, on saturday I spent 3 hours during the peak of that heavy downpour getting drenched riding around perth.

    So, about half way through after hitting a dip with like tons of water in the road, got a major splash all over the underside of the bike.

    So here is the riddle for you to help me solve: My fucking speed sensor went haywire. Wouldnt tell me the speed, kept bouncing around from 0 to random numbers and back to 0. Then let the bike sit, dry out a bit. Checked the sensor, not dirty, not faulty. Back on the road in the evening, and everything back to normal operating order.

    Theories and trashtalk go!

    I believe the speed sensor on those sits on the front sprocket cover, and takes a hall effect pick up from a castlated nut on your front sprocket;

    The cable on this to the first connector is not particularly long and getting water into it would not take much to cause a short/arc. As it's only signal level voltage, most likely a 5v pulse it would simply present a logic fault (weird readings) as opposed to being a hard fault to ground on a 12V circuit which would result in a blown fuse.

    First point to check would be the condition of the 3 wire connector, secondly check the wiring to the sensor for any cracked or brittle insulation.
    Trying to think of a wise and sincere signature quote, but the only words that leap to mind are, "TITTY SPRINKLES"

    It's the battery...
    The only thing wrong with a perfect ride to work is that you end up at work.

    Hall..??? It's American for corridor....

    So.. "Corridor effect... uses converging angles to offset immediate forward progress by creating an optical illusion that the way is smaller as the viewer looks into the distance."

    OR Don't ride in puddles you can't walk through...same same..

    Ah. Missed that.

    Reckon it's an electrical short somewhere on the line to the sensor/CDI/Instrument Panel. Once it starts shorting it's like seeing the magnet pass the pickup.

    Might only happen when it gets soaked.

    Were you the mad bugger I saw going from the Kenwick link, crossing Albany Hwy around Midday ? Or are there more crazy bikers out there.
