Sad news today that Jarrod Lyle is being moved into palliative care.

As a teenager I remember the first and second times he was diagnosed and fought through it. He has PGA wins despite this, tough as they come.

Young guy with a young family.

Here you go Hillz - some light reading I thought you might enjoy. And of course, you'll need to re-acquaint yourself with this on 1/1/2019 as they're changing.

Jesus those are some shaggy balls. I stop using mine as soon as they have a significant nick in the jacket. It's just a mental thing more than it having any real effect on flight. Funny the more you spend on a ball, the less durable they are as urethane jackets spin better but are easier to damage than Surlyn.

just bought these Bridgestone extra soft 4 doz @ $79 (GCOWELCOME2 for extra $10 off)
    https://www.golfclearanceoutlet.com....e-4-dozen.html

surprisingly nice and easy to hit. Cheap, seems to fly straighter and slightly further for me compare to other balls I have been using. Nice to putt; has enough stopping spin on them to attack the pin but not stupid amount of back spin.
    No rubber ball feel...

Also stayed in decent shape condition after a round or two.

Wilson Staff Duo Optix in the fluoro green for me, love those bad boys.
$29 for 12, easy to find, go a country mile and feel great putting.

2nd place would be Srixon Soft Feels.

Last place is ProV1. Just don't have the control for something that high spin. Slices or I get 10ft of back spin on my wedges that I don't want/cant control.

I'm a stickler for feel with balls (HA). If it doesn't feel good off the putter or clicks too much off a wedge I won't play it. Again, it's all in my head but 95% of golf is.

I've played ProV1s and I like them. I'm currently trying the Taylormade TP5 and I think I'll get more after I go through this dozen. They are both hideously expensive. All expensive balls only really last a round or two if you hit a couple trees and handful of bunkers a round. The jackets are soft as shite. The Bridgestone e6 is the pick of the mid range balls I've used. They have good feel, flight, and they last.

If you've never played the high end balls don't. You won't want to go back and it probably doesn't actually benefit your game. I'm a chump really.

Played a lazy round in Jasper the other week, fifth game in four years got one par five and bogey'd two other holes the other fifteen were my usual crap standard. Back has been fucked ever since in spite of swimming lots before the holiday.

    Nice course though.

What is this "round or two" per ball you speak of, when I play I am stoked to get 3-4 holes out of a ball before losing it!!

Last time I seriously played golf I hit a zebra.

Seriously it was in Africa and I hit a stripey horse. I decided that was the highlight of my pathetic golfing career, and have rested on my laurels ever since.

I have since been told this is about as good as hitting an albatross.
