Your thoughts - motorcycle dash cam

    Hey all,

I am considering getting a dash cam type setup for my daily ride after the usual multitude of near misses (that we all experience), and a drop involving another vehicle lane changing and brake checking... This would have been a no excess job if Iíd had a cam runnning, but ended up costing me $500.

I am considering the Innov K2, but would like to hear what otherís are using, or if you have this installed. I like the idea of not having to charge batteries or pressing ďrecĒ etc every time it needs to be on. So the usual gopro type setup is out.

    Cheers

If you are having a "multitude of near misses" you're doing it wrong.

when you get one, make sure you post footage here so we can all critique you and give you a reality check that your riding skills are probably sub-par and that a camera wont fix that

    Steam iron, Vacuum cleaner.

That does look like a good unit and its hard wired and mounted so i guess in the event of a spill its got a lot better chance of being intact for use? i rekon the helmet mounted ones would have at least a 50% chance of being ground off on the blacktop or shrubbery or whatever.
I cant help it if your perceptions don't match my reality

Have ground one through turn one at Barbs...they are actually tougher than I would've expected.

You've had six whole years as a member here NAK3D.

If you weren't able to anticipate these responses given that much time, it's a wonder you're only having near misses riding in traffic.

That's the sharpest, funniest thing I'll say all day. Appreciate your set up

Mate it seems to get good reviews on places where cameras aren't despised for a variety of (fair enough) reasons. Check it out:

    https://www.google.com.au/search?q=i...obile&ie=UTF-8

With that help out of the way, dropping a bike during an emergency stop is an indication you need to practice that thing. If your bike didn't hit the car then possibly you wouldn't have had you stayed upright.

And just be sure to turn that camera off when you're having fun, and riding with people who are also having fun.

    Stay safe out there bud!

My advice is use a helmet cam - films where you look which is more useful in my opinion. Also it's less complicated than having a wired dash cam on the bike.

Go with an aerodynamic design rather than a gopro. The roam contour is ideal with a great mount and big on/off slider you can use with gloves.

Alternatively a drift camera just as good (more expensive I think).

I commute every day and I think it is very worthwhile to use a helmet cam in case of an accident for evidence.

I have used one ever since I had a bad accident and it took 2 years to get it sorted with lawyers. Would of made a world of difference if I had filmed the crash and I would've been a fair bit better off as a result.

You know what's more annoying than those ads that come up on Bookface?
That's when yo go looking for them and they're no there. I've been seeing an ad for a front and rear bike cam recently but I'm fucked if I can find it now...
The only thing wrong with a perfect ride to work is that you end up at work.

Maybe do both? Maybe this guy is an excellent rider already?
Some accidents cannot be avoided no matter how experienced or skillful you are.

    Seems ok
    Camera function does drain battery

Looks like a nice unit, I'd tend to agree that maybe a helmet mounted cam might pick up more

Have you used the Roam personally? I've been looking at them as they look quite nice
