    "By majority"...

If the "majority" of the population of China was Norwegian, then I would expect they would use Norwegian as the language of choice when doing things like obtaining a license...

Not that it would do much good for either of us if we were in the Eastern Goldfields trying to communicate with the Wangai or in the northwest trying to communicate with the Yamatji let alone a lot of the tribes over east

Stayed away from the thread as I expected dumbass racist crap. And lo it delivered.

Got my Japanese license without speaking Japanese. The dude had the arse as I didn't speak the language, but he got over it.

Can't recall the last time talking was needed to control a vehicle.

What if you are mute or deaf? It may shock you to know that they get licenses to. Women even.

Also I have found a lot of Cantonese speaking people will struggle more with Mandarin than English, so that may not be a help.

While it is not necessary to speak at all to control a vehicle it is a requirment when dealing with the law to understand, at least, what is being said....so a person who cannot speak or is deaf doesnt fit that catagory...besides where is the fun in telling others to fuck off if they dont understand you?...anyway I am off to look at the BMW R9T...hope its as good looking in the flesh!

Oh my god did he just assume and assign a gender to someone without their permission??? Hatecrime.

Being deaf or mute is not a decision.

Its about passing the test. the quickest way to pass a practicle exam in australia would be to learn it in english so you can follow instructions to the letter and then get on with your life and speak chinese if you want to, i dont think anyone cares about that. I dont.

I mean chinese people dont mind paying for entrance to an australian university to get an australain university degree taught in english. Is there a difference. I dont think theres a problem with that, i mean theres the whole overseas fee payers over opportunities for local school leavers thing but thats a different conversation.

    Racist rant ??
I cant help it if your perceptions don't match my reality

You can be deaf and learn to ride a motorbike by using hand signals and watching.
Just speaking a different language should not be a problem as the internet provides advise which can be downloaded and easily translated.

Anything to do with getting a bike license can be found here https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/lice...motorcycle.asp Just do a search for translation + english to mandarin, then copy and paste sections in the English section.

The written test is on the internet and can be translated via internet.
Practise and learn that very well before you go in so you recognise the questions and can answer them and understand the basics.

For the practical lessons, you just need to learn some basic English words like left, right, stop, U turn, emergency stop and just ask your instructor to coach using normal signals like: follow me = tap back of bike, you lead... wave you through, look where you are going = 2 fingers to eyes then point where you want to go, hand up = stop, slow down = pat the dog, shake head = not right, thumbs up = good.

Do your homework as much as you can by translating coaching lessons on the internet and learn the layout of the area you are going to get assessed for your license so you can recognize street names.

    Good luck.
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: "Wahoo!! What a ride!"

Some years ago I got a licence in Cantonese speaking Hong Kong without speaking the local language. There was no expectation or requirement for me to speak cantonese.

This country licences plenty of non english speaking drivers and has done so for many many years. Look at the early Italian arrivals, Vietnamese, middle eastern, African, New Zealand and other non english speaking new Australians that have become part of our society.

Those that have an expectation that only english languaged people should be allowed to drive is short sighted and discriminatory.
