    Australian Produce

Its already begun sooner than I expected.

A private equity group specialising in China-focused agricultural exports has taken over Capilano Ltd and turned it into a private company.
Because Capilano Ltd will now make a fortune for its shareholders selling premium Australian honey to China and be free to operate without the ASX monitoring its corporate behaviour.
The company is transforming into a honey marketing vehicle focused on upper middle class Chinese customers who canít get enough of our pure natural resources.
Ben McKee from Capilano Ltd has assured Chinese consumers that Capilano Ltd will only ever sell Australian honey to the Chinese but has not given a guarantee to Australian consumers that his company will not sell Australians honey blended with foreign honey.

Most of the frozen produce is "packed in NZ" which means it originates, most likely, from China.

Does anybody know where to buy Australian grown nuts? Does Australia even grow nuts?

The stuff sold at Potato house has no country of origin so makes me assume the worse.

Australia produces 40,000 to 45,000 tonnes of peanuts per year, 95% of which comes from Queensland.

    Thanks Google.

Capilano...just gave me a $2.5K Xmas pressy... I would rather have stayed as a supporter/shareholder.... 'cause the price was gonna skyrocket since China thinks we have the best honey in the entire world...with little or no hype or pretense.

( we actually do due to climate and air quality) and as thatSick said it is lost now due to the takeover. we can still buy it from the shops but can't participate in the ASX/Share growth/value.

From what I read from Capilano was they had no protection from OS poachers/buyers from the Government and had no choice but to accept the offer of international support from the current owners.

Interesting shit in the honey trade industry... Netflix docco I watched went a bit into it... aparently it's quite common to 'fake' where honey originates and all that jazz.

Yes Australia does grow nuts, they're available from the nutshell.com.au
Peanuts are not actually nuts, they're legumes. Macadamia nuts are native to Queensland but it is the Hawaians who first grew them commercially. Australia is a significant Almond producer and also produces Walnuts.

    my Woolies mixed nut container says;

packed in Australia from at least 32% Australian ingredients.

Meat and in season fruit/veg generally speaking are Australian grown.
Market grocers are are better for local fresh produce but you do pay more.

Buy your honey from family owned West Coast Honey and you'll be certain you are buying our local product.

4th generation beekeepers based in Gingin, they do not export. Worth a ride to Gingin Brook Road for a honey icecream.

Well this country has always sold its produce/minerals/and almost all other natural resouces to any takers....take the current lithium mine....a Chinese company. No doubt we will export the stuff then end up buying the value added product back from them. The only winners are the big corporate bosses/owners who pocket the profit, pay almost no taxes and the slimy politicians who live for today and fuck tommorrow then crow about how good they have performed.

Aussies are our own worst enemy.

We want it cheap but wont get out of bed for less than $250/day and plenty of holidays, sickies and RDO's. If someone does have a go we hang shit on them until they go belly up then say "told ya' so" as they want a bit extra for their produce to cover costs and fuck that, Aldi sells it 0.50c cheaper.

Then we carry on about foreign companies buying us out. Newsflash, they are Aussies selling out because no fucker in this country wants to take a risk and work hard. If the gubmint tries to step in the right wingers chuck a tanty because private enterprise does it better apparently.

Seriously lets change the name of Prime Minister to "Head of the Kindy."

Well actually it seems that calling people cnuts is more acceptable than a reasoned argument.

I don't get it but that may just be the spectrum kicking in.

Exported to China and other similar places...same as the high quality infant milk powder...China then dumps its inferior rubbish on our shores...I think its called a 'trade agreement'....I think Indonesia sells most of its crap to spud shed.

Can't blame the sellers for selling at the highest price, and can't blame the buyers for buying a good investment or top product.
Pay more for Australian foods that are Australian grown and comply with all the health restrictions and regulations Government has imposed and they will continue to be provided unadulterated.
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: "Wahoo!! What a ride!"

    This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 100%

I grow my own fruit and vegetables and what I don't grow I buy. And I certainly don't buy the soggy, wilted shite they sell at the spud shed.

I am extremely fussy about what I eat. Sadly people nowdays accept whatever is the cheapest and closest thing available.

Unfortunately it's easier to live on take aways, that are cheap and their kids whinge for, than cook themselves.

Some kids still don't know eggs or milk don't magically appear in cartons.

I cannot get over the useless government, no matter who it is, standing around watching all this happen. Its no use saying market forces dictate...thats like letting the banks regulate themselves....look where that ended up.

    ^^ This^^

Did you say 'self regulation' ? Happened in Real Estate to, with foreign investment...clever Gubbermit put a stop to that....only to find it was overseas buyers who were propping up the Market in the Eastern States. .hence the current correction.
