    Private go-kart track day?

Is there anywhere you can track a home-made go-kart?
My nephew built one and is itching to get it on a track.
Is the go-kart track/Jack's Hill at Barbs able to be used? Can you bring your own go-kart to go-kart places?
    Cheers

I take my go kart to both Cockburn and Wannaroo kart tracks, you can just turn up and pay the $50 fee and sign an indemnity form.. Just ring the track before you go as they do have private sessions for the hire karts plus they also have Members only private practise on set days..
Karts are supposed to comply to a Karting standard also!

i doubt very much you have a homemade Kart that would comply with any reputable track requirements.
are you sure you don't mean a billy cart/soapbox derby type contraption

    Thanks for the info all.
gus96, definitely a go-kart. Yes, meeting track specs is obviously up to the go-kart place but he won't know until he gets it down there for them to check it out. First port of call is finding places where he might be able to run it, then seeing if it complies. And when I say built, I mean he bought the frame and all the bits and assembled them and fabricated bits as required.
If there's other suggestions please post up and I'll pass them on.

Not quite. Has a 203cc briggs and stratton motor so should move fairly decently.

Put dirt tyres on it and bring it to the York dirt kart circuit
Not much in the way of regulations on these karts.

Nephew says it's got SFA ground clearance. Would it still get around it OK or is it pretty bumpy?

The difference between Dirt karts and Bitumen Karts is mostly tyres, some dirt guys run Bitumen tyres anyway.
do you have a pic of the kart? I could probably tell you straight away if your likely to get it on Wanneroo or Cockburn.
I raced Karts for years and currently run the timing system for my club on race day.

As Gus said, pretty much tyres - a lot of the guys run on the tyres thrown away by the tarmac guys. I've got a tyre groover if he wants to give it a run and cut some tread.

I'll FB msg you and if he's interested and I'll get you in touch with the track owner
