The only thing wrong with a perfect ride to work is that you end up at work.

I'll be trying to not let the charming words of disingenuous people penetrate my protective barrier...enroll in a communication/assertiveness course and practice what I learn...remember that I can't read people at all so shut the fuck up and say nothing.

Looks like a negative shit sandwich on reflection but honest self awareness breeds strength I heard somewhere.

Oh...be more thankful for the few true friends I have and ride more on the street this year than the last 2 or three combined, now that I won't be racing anymore.

Ha ha... Happy New Year to you all. I guess it is a time to reflect on where you are and where you want to be. I would love it if people do not conform to uniformity and avoid running the commercial line of what is "normal" as a good life is not about busting your gut doing what others want.
I sincerely hope all of you make a list of what you really want out of life and do what is needed to get there.
If it is too hard, stop blaming others. If it too selfish, stop being parasitic to others. If it is too giving, stop being the host for parasites. If it is not caring enough, find reason to care and put more effort into caring for others and it will be reciprocated. If you are not happy, change your life so you are. You are in charge of your destiny and effort to change is the answer.
Good luck everyone, 2019 is going to be a corker
Life is NOT a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: "Wahoo!! What a ride!"

To do something about my bad feet following yet another injury.

Good that I get to sit on my butt for a week, but bad that I injured a foot so easily.

Podiatrist is stumped by my erm, stumps. Never seen anything like it before which is a bit disheartening coming from a foot doctor.
Off to the medical imaging centre for some glowy snaps of both tootsies and then see what's what.

I'm with the doc on this one. I love you, dude, but I've seen more meat on a chicken McNugget. I too am trying to put on some weight - not doctors orders, I just want to be stronger & more kick-arse.

You have totes earned that four-day week, my friend.
Top three reasons my jokes are like immunisations: (1) I think they make the world a better place (2) They sometimes sting a little (3) Not enough people get them.

I don't really do resolutions as I don't think the new year is significant for that - if you want to do something, do it - it's more about the timing being right and being ready to do it rather than being dependent upon whether the 4th digit of the year ticks over to a new number, but get that it provides motivation for some. My (loosely termed) 'resolutions' are more related to personal growth/achievements I hope to inject into my daily life to make me a better, more fulfilled person and something I want to do, independent of the new year. For the previous year (that roughly, coincidentally coincided with the new year), I had 5, and I accomplished all but 1 (but made progress on it), and my ones for the next little while are a continuation of the 5 as they are just part of daily life now - so just aiming to consolidate them, and make further progress on the 5th one. TBH, not sure I really thought I'd do them, but I did so the timing, impetus and motivation was right As said by someone on here, change occurs when the pain of remaining the same is greater than pain of change.

It took me a year to get me to my goal weight (yes, trying to put it on as well) which is usually indicated by my jeans getting a bit tight when they're first put on out of the wash Now I just hope it doesn't continue to go on past this point...
And yes, getting fit - thinking about enlisting a personal trainer to kick my arse and help me rebuild muscle mass, and tone up.
