Vaccines aren't produced by the government. There's no 2 sides to it, vaccines introduce you to antigens at a lower dose than if you were to be exposed to the pathogen naturally. It gives your body a chance to produce antibodies faster than the pathogen can reproduce, therefore meaning you get over the attack. You then have T lymphocytes that "memorise" the antigen, and can mount an effective immune response within a day or two if you're exposed a second time. It doesn't make you invincible to disease or illness, but you have a much better chance of mounting an effective immune response for every subsequent exposure to the same antigen.

It really isn't much more simple than that, except anti-vaxxers have to hijack vaccines with their "ooooh itz got da chemikalz oooooooh" rhetoric to throw doubt into the minds of people who aren't scientifically literate (which I'm assuming most PSB people are not). Vaccines are one of the greatest advancements in healthcare, and we live in such a privileged society where people can choose to reject some free form of medical treatment purely based off of fashion or ignorance. I'm sure there are millions of people in the world who would gladly take the place of an anti-vaxxer in Australia where they could get vaccinated against preventable diseases.

No they are primarily made in places other than Oz and the TGA accepts that for use in Oz in most cases
It was good when we had an Australian producer of medications ie CSL but then the govt sold it off so from a consumer POV we must trust that testing and QC is adequate

I'm all for vaccination and believe it's better than not having a majority vaccinated against common diseases but I'm not blind enough to believe they are 100% without issues and have known people that have had reactions albeit minor to some vaccines

Many thanks to the Chinese lady who is staying at my place tonight, & thought she could out-drink me with a simple drink like Gin & Tonic... and then proceeded to wobble out from my lounge room after I put on Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon for her, only to throw up all over my hallway & guest toilet. I did try & explain to her, "if you start to feel sick, try and make sure it all goes in the toilet" but no. She knew better. At least her hair is short, so I don't have to hold it back while she vomits in the dunny...
