So I own a ktm 400 Exc 2001 and I am from SA, I have my learners for motorbikes and I have been researching to see if my bike is lams. I’ve noticed that my bike is on the list but only the models 2008 - 2011 i have been told by a few friends that my bike should be still be learners approved but I’ve done heaps of research and I can’t figure it out. My bike weighs 122kg and has 32.1 Kw Can anybody please find out if my bike fits under the lams of SA.
Badge engineering, put an appropriate badge on it and go for it...

Stick a Harley Badge on it.
There whole range is LAMs and LAME.

Its meant to be a national list
But
in SA and NSW a 2001 KTM 400 exc is not on the list as they specify the year
( my guess its a typo with regard to when they started making them as as the 360/380 and 510/520 exc's are)

Whereas WA Qld & Vic the year is not specified so i guess its on.
Note: this may not be the universe where the above is relevant.
big singles = lams even the old 520/525 are lams the berger 570 also lams along with 500EXC, general rule basically any dirt bike is lams

The 400EXC is only listed as a 2008-2011 model, so you're probably shit out of luck because of this:

Be the standard model and variant as specified on the above list; and
Not be modified in any way that increases its power-to-weight ratio.
That trranslates as "Not on the list, not approved."
Interestingly, WA uses the same list but does not specify model year so it would be fine over here.
You could transport it to WA, sell it as a LAMS model then use the cash to buy something compliant over there.
Or ride around out of class if you're that way inclined.
