So did you claim and get paid out or uninsured and the cops just didnít bother looking up the numbers before trying to sell it off?

I was browsing late one night about 10 years ago, killing time, etc.

Saw a Husqvarna TC250 (ie Husqvarna 250cc four stroke motocross bike).

There would have had to have been only a couple of those in Perth, so surely someone would know whose it was?

I figured out whose bike it was and rang him. He didn't mind the late night phone call.

The auction was due to start at 10am the next day.

After a few phone calls to police, Ross's, etc, he was there with his trailer to pick up the bike at 9:30am.

Considering that at the time there was only one Husqvarna dealership in Perth (ie Tyres For Bikes) you'd think that the police would at least take the initiative to call that shop and ask if they knew of anyone missing such a bike.

Heck, it was only a year or so old, so the shop would have had a record of who bought it new (ie VIN).
One owner. Only driven gently on Sundays. Sold to best offer. First to see will buy. Reward offered for safe return. Coming soon to a cinema near you. Available for a limited time only.

My waterbed broke this morning. Oh, I don't have a waterbed. Bugger.

Oh man that's fucked. I had a trailer nicked a couple years ago. WAPOL have the VIN. If i ever find out it's been sold and the fuzz couldn't be bothered running the numbers through their stolen vehicles register I'll be making a claim against them and the auctioneers in small claims court.

That would imply the police take initiative and do some work toward fixing the bike theft problem. They generally just write them off as 'another stolen bike'. I was amazed I got mine back
